The Renault 8 marked a turning point in the history of Renault. Launched in 1962 to succeed the Dauphine, it retained the rear-engine layout but introduced a radically new, more angular style, a departure from the 1950s.

From its design, notably by Philippe Charbonnaux, to its technical evolutions, from its Major versions to the legendary Gordini, the Renault 8 established itself as a popular sedan… but also as a true sporting icon and a fantastic springboard for a whole generation of racing drivers.

Produced in over 1.3 million units and sold worldwide, it also embodies the gradual end of a technical architecture soon to be superseded by more modern models like the Renault 12.
