I have two groups I'm attempting to bring through the winter. Medaka i raised last year and overwintered in the house, and a group i raised this year.
They all came as eggs from warmer states, but not too much warmer ( i hope).
I live in the Pacific Northwest, USA.
Late fall (today is the first day of winter) has been unusually warm and very wet. I have my 20gal tubs ( muck bukets) covered most of the time, but need to find better covers as the thin polycarbonate keeps blowing off.
Following your tips, im going to add some alder leaves to the more emty tub (the other is too full of live plants), and add some wonder shell to both.
I intend to move the tub with the younger fish into our unheated greenhouse soon, before a hard freeze.
I'll try to give an update on how they all come through.
I had a look at your channel but couldn't find a video about how you feed your medaka or any tips?
I went to DCM Homac here in Japan and there's so many varieties of food to choose from, I have trouble deciding which one is best for my medaka.
Also if you have any recommendations on where to buy good medaka in Japan, please let me know!
