1966 feels like yesterday sometimes. I can still picture my little transistor radio sitting on the kitchen table while my mom cooked dinner. Every time one of these songs came on, the whole house somehow felt happier. We didn't realize we were making memories that would last a lifetime.

Growing up in that era these songs just become a part of your soul, who you are.

I am 73.  I remember all these songs and I still have some of them on LP’s

Cass was an awesome artist!!  I love her voice.  RIP CASS❤❤❤❤❤❤

1966 was one of the greatest years for music. I didn't remember every song at first, but once they started playing, the memories came rushing back

I love this kind of video—great songs from 1966, plus the memories that come rushing back when you hear them again. Some of these really deserve to be remembered! 🎶❤

In 1966 I went from Elementary school into Jr. High School! And this music was awesome!! Still is!

Here is another 6. The songs of my childhood. Thank you.

I was a 9-year-old grade schooler right here in suburban Philadelphia back in 1966. I was watching Green Acres on Wednesday nights on CBS. And listening to the Boss Jocks on Famous 56, WFIL, who were playing the top tunes of the day.

1966 was one of the greatest years in music history. I knew almost every song on this list, and hearing them again brought back so many wonderful memories!

I remember ALL of these hits😮. I was 10 years old in Berlin, Germany. We’d just left Minnesota after 3 years there with my Uncle, Aunt and my Cousin after they’d kindly taken us in after our mum died from Cancer aged 36 years. My Dad was in the British Army and had 3 young children to look after. Long story - short, we had 3 fantastic years in America but rejoined my Dad after he’d sorted his life out. As young kids we had no idea what our father was going through. We were sorry to leave Minnesota but happy to be reunited with our Father.

1966 was a good year as I remember. England won the Football World Cup … against West Germany. Where were we? BERLIN!! All these songs were on the radio that year. Nancy Sinatra singing “These Boots are made for walking, and that just what they’ll do, one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you”  fantastic song - the one song in your video where there wasn’t any sound. Was this a Copyright issue?  “Painted Black” is probably my favourite, along with “Paperback Writer” with Ringo Star not playing his drums, as I’m mainly into heavy rock music such as Led Zeppelin and I mainly treated other music with distain as most are a jumble of meaningless words and pretty crap music accompaniment. The Music companies make their money then (mostly) “dump” them. Only a very few go on to carve a decent career.

If any out there want to listen to a decent song from 1963 try “Louie Louie” by The Kingsmen.  This song was investigated by the FBI for obscene lyrics for 2 years! The judge finally dismissed the case saying he’d listened to it, forwards, backwards, at half speed, at double speed & still couldn’t understand the lyrics. The Band said that the recording in question was due to the sound people moving the overhead microphone and it altered how the words came out.

I know the words as I heard it when it first came out.  The story goes that parents complained to the Authorities as they’d heard teenagers singing THEIR own words to the song and reported their hearings.

There’s a great video on YouTube of it, the drummer looks like what must be the Grandfather of “Howard Wolowitz“, from the Big Bang Theory TV Show, or Animal from Spitting Image, who is the only one to swear at the 52/54 second mark when he dropped one of his sticks! Have a Nice Day. 😄😊🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸

1966 was absolutely stacked with timeless songs. Hard to believe how many of these still sound great today!

1966 really was one of the greatest years in music. Every song brings back a different memory.

1966 was the year I graduated from high school. Thanks for replaying the sounds of my youth.

I was 17 living in Australia where I abide still. I am now 77. I still love all these songs.

I was born Nov 2, 1965 so I was a baby but grew up listening to these songs. Brings back warm memories❤❤❤

If you grew up in the ’60s, you didn’t just hear these songs—you lived them. AM radio, school dances, record players, and waiting all week to hear your favorite song again. What a time to be young!

In 1966 I was 14. My best friend’s family had a radio/record shop. So we always had the newest records. I remember all of them. It was a wonderful time. We were young.

was born in 1960,but remember these great songs as the older siblings played them constantly in the house,it was a cornerstone of my generations growing up, great days so sadly gone, and many of the artists to, this music cannot and will not ever be equalled, I'm blessed I grew up in those times

84 years young and living now in Williamsburg, VA. Born and reared in So Cal in the 50-60’s. Loved these songs.
