Love Bugs are a pain indeed, Oun. Their bodies are naturally acidic so they can cause damage to your car’s paint. If you see them on your car, it’s best to wash them off right away rather than blow them off because they leave traces of their acidity which will ruin car paint over time. If you wax your car, it’ll make the rinsing easier for you each time.
Just like mosquitos, they love stagnant water and use moist damp areas and dead plants as their breeding ground. I know it’s hard to avoid it in FL but there are some good tips to help minimize it at least. 😊
Here are a few extra tips:
They’re attracted to light colors especially white.
They’re active in the day, not at night.
They don’t like rosemary oil, citrus, and clove.
They love tall grass so it’s always recommended to mow once week to keep the grass short, making it difficult for them to lay eggs.
