Il Quaderno: one short original story, told slowly and clearly in Italian for beginners (A1-A2).

Lena arrives in Florence from Munich at twenty three, with five years of school Italian, the best marks in her class and a grammar notebook she is rather proud of. In a real bar, in front of a real barista, nothing comes out, and within a week she is the German girl who ordered boiling water on a thirty two degree day and drank it with a teaspoon rather than admit the mistake. Everything begins to change the evening her washing machine floods the bathroom and she has to knock on the door of the landlady downstairs, a woman who speaks no German, no English, and who never misses the eight o'clock quiz show.

The audio is Italian from the first second to the last. English appears only in the subtitles, so your ears stay in Italian while your eyes help you when you need them. Every scene is illustrated, so the meaning reaches you without stopping to translate.

How to get the most out of this video:
1. Listen once without reading. Do not worry about the words you miss.
2. Listen again with the Italian subtitles on.
3. Only turn on the English subtitles when you are really stuck.

Impara l'italiano con le storie: lentamente, chiaramente e con i sottotitoli. Una nuova storia ogni settimana.

New story every week. Subtitles available in Italian and English.
