Best dipole demo on the internet. Boyscout style, no fancy terms, no baluns, just pure radio

What a PERFECT time to illustrate how easy it is to make a 10 meter dipole. Any technician that has not been on 10 meters this sunspot cycle is in for a REAL TREAT these days!!
Thank you for making this excellent and enthusiastic video.

I made a 6m speaker wire dipole as my first antenna. I run QRP most of the time so I didn't even need coax. Speaker wire the whole way and terminated with a bonding post that has a BNC on the other end. It was really cheap and compact and it worked well.

It's hard to remember that you don't have to spend a fortune to get out there on the air.

Sweet app for antenna calculators I was glad we spent a $.99 on one. It’s better than free. That’s why they charge money.

I built one of these this past summer. I used a throw line in a tree today and activated my second POTA today. Using this antenna, an FT-891 I was hitting all over the place. TX, FL, LA, Chile 🇨🇱, Greece 🇬🇷, Great Britain 🇬🇧 etc. I was amazed. Thanks for this video!!! Great first antenna build and exciting to use something I made out of stuff in the junk drawer to activate a park!!

I've found that the things that come out of the handles of milk jugs make great insulators. I have tons. I work at a grocery store. 😁

Wow! I'm studying for my General (test on Jan 20, 2024), not for the HF privileges but to prove that my 78 year old chemo brain can still do simple grammar school memorization. I didn't care about HF because I thought it would cost a bundle to buy a new radio AND some huge fancy schmancy HF antenna tower and array. But YOU have got me excited about moving up to HF now. I can afford stuff like this. THANK YOU! Now I really DO want to pass the exam.

I made this antenna last week and put it up Friday at home for winter field day. Talked to Russia with no tuning on Friday on 10m. Started on Saturday field day with my G90 and had a ball. Maybe I can reach you on your livestream next time. 73. KD2UTJ.

The holes will be a LOT easier to drill BEFORE you cut out the parts!

Cutting antennas old school - they way we used to do it. I remember building a 2 meter ground plane vertical using just a SO-239 and copper welding rods. Worked great.

Excellent video on making antennas. When I got licensed, I didn't have an analyzer either and managed to build a 10m dipole and using less than 100watts, worked the whole world. Also like how you use ordinary objects for your projects, like speaker wire and a cheap cutting board. That's a big part of ham radio, improvising. Keep up the great work!

Step 2. Do the same for 20m and make it into a fan di-pole! Step 3. rinse and repeat (40m, 80m etc). This is exactly what I did for my first antenna but I start with 20m, it worked really well, the separation between the different elements is not that critical as long as there is some.

KN6ZHW / Dude, Bro, Hammie, Station+, ...
I have been a HAM for seven months without a single HF contact using the long wire antenna HRO sold me. I made MY FIRST ANTENNA...YOUR 10 meter Dipole using 10 gauge wire and a small switch box for center connections (It was still very inexpensive and really looks great and is weather resilient) then...using my FT710 checked the SWR @ approx. 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 @28.300, 28.400, 28.495. Then I went to the 10 meter band and made MY FIRST HF contact at 28.390 with a station 2000 miles away in Wabasha, Minnesota.
Thank you so very much.

I don’t have all the doos or dads but I’m making one as my 10meter Pota antenna.

Love the production quality of your videos and the fact that you take time to make sturdy antennas for the 10M band. And, of course, all you do for the ham Tech folks.
