Ankara's Haunted Kayı Village: A Dormitory Built on a Children's Cemetery | Dark Stories
In this episode, journalist and writer Mehtap Erel investigates the dark legend of Kayı Village in Ankara's Sincan district.
For years, Kayı has been known as the "haunted village," with stories of children's voices heard at night, a burning smell emanating from the walls of the old dormitory building, and a great secret from the past still hidden beneath the earth. Was the dormitory building, once home to children, truly built on an old cemetery?
What did Sabiha Hanım write in her night notes?
What sin did the burnt piece of cloth and small bones protruding from the wall point to, a sin the village wanted to forget?
Perhaps the most frightening thing in the story of Kayı Village isn't the jinn...
It's the village's desperation to the point of fearing even its own children.
In this episode of Dark Stories, we trace the children's cemetery behind Ankara's so-called "haunted" Kayı Village, the rumors of the curse, and the great secret that has been silenced for years.
DARK STORIES – VIEWER INFORMATION TEXT
Some of the folk tales told in Dark Stories may seem exaggerated or illogical at first. However, these narratives are parts of a collective memory passed down through oral culture for centuries, with each narrator adding their own testimony and interpretation. In the past, people tried to express the disappearances they couldn't understand, the mysterious deaths, the natural phenomena they couldn't explain, and the fears they experienced through these stories. Over time, real events and legends intertwined. Dark Stories does not claim to be a documentary. What is told here bears the traces of a world where truth, belief, and legend are mixed together. We present these forgotten dark narratives as they are, leaving the interpretation to the viewer.

Efsanenin Doğuşu: Halk, yer altı tanrısı Hades'in sevgilisi Persephone'nin yeryüzüne çıkıp şarkı söylediğine inanırmış. Oysa o ses, sadece ruhunun derinliklerini karanlığın ve suyun asaletinde bulan o güçlü kadına aitmiş.
