What an atmospheric film of the 12 July 1955 in Tandragee. Northern Ireland was one of the most peaceful places on earth in those days with a tremendous sense of community and strong family bonds. Anthony Eden was Prime Minister of the UK, Dwight D Eisenhower President of the United States and General de Gaulle President of France. There were many Great War veterans still alive ( most in their early 60's ) while the Second World War ex-servicemen were largely in their mid-thirties.
This is amazing to watch, I live 2 miles from Tandragee and a lot has changed but a few things are exactly the same today like the gates at the top of the town leading to Tayto Castle 😁
