Brilliant tutorial very well described + graphics, I have just ordered the setters helper. Doesn't it drive you mad if you drop a stone into the benchmate and have to dismantle to get it back?
I would love tl make the tool you use between stone and metal. Since English is my second language, I could only catch the word 'steel'. Would you describe me more info how to make one?
Hello Joel , I've had this on going dispute for years. What's the difference between flush set and Gypsy set. My understanding is a flush set, The table is flush with metal where as a gypsy set the girdle is even with the metal. Hope this makes sense. Am I right or wrong. Thanks sir
Hi, thanks for this video. What was the tool you used to cut your bezel step - it was the one with which you regulated the depth of the cut and flatten the top of your bezel. Thanks for letting me know.
Hi Joel, I saw one of your vids the other day and iv been searching for. It but I can't remember which one.. It was tho one u made a burnished from a stainless steel fork. You had a shet of paper with the Mohs scale on it, and had everything in order of what metals are harder than certain stones n metals. Do u know where I could download or copy that to keep on my wall or desk? I started learnin how to make jewelry about a year an a half ago and I think that was an awesome bit of invaluable information, and where u said about using stainless steel as so not to mark it was brilliant and made perfect sense.
When setting a cab is there a percentage of the stone you work to Or is it dependant on the shape and would you ever use an adhesive, I'm just getting started and looking for advice.
