I had a Formentor 1.5 TSi as a hire car from work and it performed extremely well on a 150 mile journey, the handling and ride were excellent, and the real leather seats were like something you'd find in a Jaguar. I averaged 45 mpg, which is perfectly decent for a crossover, and the six speed transmission made motorway cruusing relaxed.  Infotainment system and electronic instruments looked very radical and ultra modern. Only gripe I had was there was a slight rattle in the dashboard that became noticeable in lower gears, but this was a hire car that had done 20,000 miles in a year.

i have cupra leon st with this engine and manual gearbox and it has overall(12,000 miles ) done average 47 mpg. i cant complain.

Was behind one the other day it's the comedy Fake exhausts that get me😂😂

I had the 150hp 1.4l in a Golf 7.5. 0-63mph in 8.3s.
In that application and as an enthusiast, I thought it was great.
Yes, I would always want more power, but at that price point and driving on public roads, there is still fun to be had.

I have the v1 1.5 but with a proper manual gearbox. Brings back some of the fun you lose from the lower power. Overall it's a great car. Strange hearing it referred to as a hot hatch though! I used to own a 205gti, not THAT was a proper hot hatch!!
I Agree with the comments about the touchscreen, it's not intuitive at all, but you you get used to it.

The formentor is a great car, but if you want any kind of power you need to go for the vz models. The VZ with 310 ps is great fun and the launch control is a nice party piece with passengers.

Nice little review of a good looking car. I guess that all but the most gutless cars of this type will seem willing enough when empty and driven by a slight woman of 5’ 4 1/2”  it is not about “Grand Prix acceleration from the lights” but more about how much urgency it may with a few passengers and some luggage.

Does this car feel like an SUV? Does it feel like you are sat up high on the road or does it feel more low to the ground and sporty?

I’m still driving my Honda civic type R ( FK2) that I imagine would have a good claim as the ultimate ‘hot hatch’ with 306 BHP and a 170mph top speed yet I get over 30mpg , has every ‘extra’ you could think of fitted as standard … mines now showing 46,000 miles and apart from normal servicing once a year , new tyres ( often) and new wiper blades it’s wanted for nothing over the years with 100% reliability , a good sized boot and all things considered it’s a great car .. the fact people are like sheep and follow the crowd means they jump on the 4x4 market for off roading on the way to Tescos or the crossover vehicles … a rubbish vehicle to start with jacked up and given horrendous driving characteristics in the search for higher driving positions in the hope little women can feel superior to the neighbour 😂😂😂😂😂 you need to go back a long long way to find the days people judged a car on its performance above its cup holders

Its more of trim level, my old Cupra Leon was nuts, every variant has a Cupra level, now...the brand has lost its way.......

Why do you want to have a touch screen infotainment system when you are driving a car? Hate this trend.

Had one of these as a hire car 2 weeks ago for 4 days and that touchscreen/climate set up was absolutely abhorrent. Simple things like turning on a heated seat is a faff. I thought most of the reviews about how bad this VAG setup has were a bit hyperbolic but anything but in the end.

Given I drive mainly at night, that infotainment system is not for me, those sliders are rubbish and not backlit, come on cupra

My partner has had one of these for two years.
Positives
They look good, have plenty of space and are comfortable.
Negatives
The engine is really flat yet fairly thirsty, the handling is poor (especially in the wet and cold) and the infotainment is rubbish.

What is the point in the Cupra badge on bog standard 1.5 TSI?
Isn't that what Seat is supposed to be for?
