In Biking the Boulevards, Geoffrey Baer bikes his way across Chicago, using the city's network of boulevards. The boulevards are wide, tree-lined streets, which connect Chicago's largest parks.

Chicago has so many beautiful places. It's a shame it's so violent... but I still love my city...

I cannot stop falling in love with Chicago…thank you dear brothers and sisters of many races, creeds, struggles, losses, talents, hopes, dreams, needs and lives, who have gifted us with our most miraculous city! And Mr. Baer, you have deeply enriched my knowledge and experience of my beloved city of big shoulders and even bigger dreams!💖🌆🥂💪🏾💪🏼💪

I'm sad he didn't extend his ride down Jackson Blvd to Columbus Park. That's a beautiful park and I used to love seeing the ducks every summer when I lived down the street.

Permit me to preface this comment by saying how much I enjoy Geoffrey Baer’s informative array of videos about Chicago. As a former resident of Brighton Park, his videos have served to rectify my huge knowledge deficit about Chicago’s history. I didn’t learn much as a kid beyond Mrs. O’Leary’s cow, and maybe as a snot-nosed Catholic school boy I wouldn’t have appreciated Chicago’s rich history anyway. Maybe it took my arrival at senior citizenship to appreciate (Older and wiser?) Chicago’s history. I missed a great deal while living on the southwest side, and although I now (2026) live in Minneapolis, Chicago will always be home.

I thought this was supposed to be about cycling! Sounds way more like it’s about black history! Why the misleading title?
