The late Lt Johan Schoeman was an artillery officer, PF who had to do a camp in 1988, Ops Packer. There he spent a couple of months in a tree bringing down G5 fire onto Cuito Cuanevale and surrounds. He became well known for his "warinangola.com" website where he gathered and documented a serious amount of Border War history. Johan was an avid war gamer and had an astounding collection of miniature armies. Back in 2010 when I did this interview with Johan, he had just recently made contact with former foes, the Russians, That led to a wider contacts and firm friendships developing between SADF and Russian veterans.
