Hansi Flick has completely changed Raphinha’s role at Barcelona, and the early results have been incredible.
With 8 goals and 1 assist in his first 5 competitive appearances of the 2026/27 season, Raphinha is thriving as Barcelona’s new fluid No. 9. But this isn’t a traditional striker role. His movement between the lines, runs in behind, relentless pressing and ability to drift across the attack are creating serious problems for opposition defenders.
In this video, we break down exactly how Raphinha’s new position works, why Flick prefers him centrally, how his movement creates space for players like Lamine Yamal and Fermín López, and why his pressing is so important to Barcelona’s aggressive system.
We also look at the potential weaknesses of the experiment and whether Raphinha can really be Barcelona’s long-term solution at No. 9.
Is Hansi Flick changing the way we should look at Raphinha?
Watch until the end for the full tactical breakdown.

"Data" is a plural noun, so the construction is "... data don't..."
The "u" in "Jesús" has an accent mark, which means the word's accent goes on that second syllable, not the first. Related to that, the Spanish "j" is pronounced as a hard "h" so it's "hey-ZEUS." It's only polite to pronounce names correctly.
Otherwise, I liked the piece.
