When Jonny`s daughter said `its like your saying goodbye`, he said I 'am.

Well one of you got the message and emotion of the song.  One day you both will understand.

If you knew anything at all about Johnny this video would have tore you apart. 😢

The young man on the right understands the universality of this song and Cash's performance. His friend has some growing up to do.

Johnny and his wife were famous performers for 50 years. He drank a lot and did lots of drugs. That's a gold record that broke on the floor.  She stood by him. She passed away shortly after this video, and then he passed away.

It amazes me of the wide range of reaction and perception ppl have to this video due to age an life experiences.  I'm not a big Cash fan but this video was one of the most impactful music videos I have ever experienced.   Enjoyed, thanks for sharing.

The young guy in the white t got it.  I could tell how intensely he listened and took in every word.  Throwing no shade at his buddy......he just isn't aware of the long history of Cash.

It is about looking death in the face and looking back at your mistakes and saying it isn’t what you own in life it is people you love  that are important.

Its ok that one of you dont understand the emotion of this video, you are young and I hope you have a long full happy life. When you get to be my age (57) you will understand more why this song cuts so deep.

It’s a Nine Inch Nails song. You heard of them?

We all make mistakes in life. You never know if it's too late to fix things. Time just runs out from under your life. Love one another.

I’m not a diehard Johnny Cash fan, but I am older and the message spoke to me more because of that

It’s cool that you guys chose this video- and in terms of feeling anything id say it’s not about knowing who Johnny Cash is- though I suppose knowing a little backstory may help some minor context but just the info you can see from watching- (elderly man at end of life, clear sorrow and regret, washed up past fame, dead friends and haunting memories, wicked depression) you should be pretty good to go

And it’s certainly not about being a fan of his. I’m not, and what is the core of why this is such an emotional hit for a lot of people is seeing another human go through such sorrow at what is clearly the end of their life and after having achieved tremendous fame that should have made them happy at the end of it all they only feel hollow and alone and there are no second chances and there’s no time left. And thats what it’s like for some people in life. And though a lot of us maybe won’t understand the fame element, we can empathize with the fear and sadness of trying to happiness, getting something like it and then watching it all crumble away only to end up alone and then die with regrets.

It’s a heavy song and not everyone reacts the same to the same things but I’m a little surprised by the complete non reaction from the one guy. I hope  it’s just to be contrarian because that’s a really worrying amount of lack of empathy or discomfort with other people’s suffering. Or like not paying attention- like just boredom- who knows!

To understand Johnny Cash you should listen to Man in black. Johnny watched his 13 yr old big brother die a painful. After Jack was jerked in😢a saw blade. He struggled with addiction. The women behind him is his wife and soul mate. She died shortly after this. Johnny followed her a short time after

One of you have a long way to go, or maybe not. Some die young and they dont have to bother. Grampa. Sweden.

a year before Johnny Cash died, his friend Waylon Jennings who was another country singer, died, Johnny Cash did this song because his wife was dying, June Carter Cash died on May 15 2003, Johnny Cash died on September 12 2003 and June Carter Cash daughter Rosie Nix Adams died on October 24 2003, also June Carter Cash was distant cousin with former 39 President Jimmy Carter

This was a cover and his last Song before he died. His wife died a few months before he did and he died shortly after this song

This hits w/ppl, just about life, knowing JC wouldn't be necc...perhaps once you get a little more of life under your belt.  Well the one on the left, the one on the right seemed to get it...perhaps you have to have some level of empathy.   Some are built with that, some comes with age, and sadly for some, never.
