Some of them are in prominent places, in cities, but some of them you find somewhere in the landscape, without a hint to them.
What I find somewhat effective, because so it is a reminder of that event being part of your history, inseperable, cannot be wiped away.
I love subtlety, instead of rubbing it in the people's face. Small pinches that are unexpected and so you are unprepared and get surprised more can be more effective that when you have already risen all barriers because of the expected onslaught.
And the "Remember what happened and how, so that you will notice when it is starting to happen again" is for me the most important message.
I just tried to find a chart of the memorials, but did not find one.
Of course you can do a deeper dive, but this is enought for one day and you should not miss the bright sides of Munich during a sunny day as well.
