Electric blues at its best! Song was written by Robert Johnson in the 1930s.

For me, undoubtedly the best bass, guitar and drums instrumental ever.

The original Filmore was located in the Filmore district of San Francisco, but by the time I started going to shows at Filmore West in 1968, it had been relocated to the Carousel Ballroom on the corner of Van Ness Avenue and Market Street. It closed in 1971. By then most of the bigger acts, like Cream were moved to Winterland because it was a larger venue. Sometimes there were scheduling conflicts with ice arena events. In 1970 Clapton had to move his show to the Berkley Community Theater because Winterland was booked and Filmore West was too small to host Derek and the Dominos. It was at that Berkley show where Clapton famously asked Neal Schon to join his band, after meeting him at Santana's house and inviting him to join him on stage. Neal played with them that night but turned down his offer because he had already committed to join Santana. The rest is history as Neal went on to form Journey.

I’m 75 and music was such a groove back then, you couldn’t help but want to get high

Robert Johnson wrote the song. Possibly Clapton’s biggest influence.

I'm glad that some youngsters enjoyed it. This live track are really good. Sometimes maybe ones a year (well not so ofte,) I can play it and just listen at 1 instrument at the time.

JACK BRUCE sang for most of Cream's vocals, folks!! The Bass.  This was a rare Clapton

🪖 Vietnam War era 🇻🇳 song,67,68,69,70,many other songs and groups came out then.CCR,STONES,etc.  😊
❤ Class of 71 ❤

Saw Cream a couple of times in '68.  The second time was the Farewell Tour show at the Chicago  Coliseum.  They were in free flight!  One of my best musical memories.

I saw Cream at their first official gig at Windsor Jazz and Blues festival and again a few days later at a small pub in the east end of London. I had been playing in a blues band for the previous two years and I thought this is the future of electric blues.

Ginger Baker was one of the best drummers ever. After Cream he went into jazz. There's a documentary about him called "Beware Mr. Baker" and it's worth watching.

Clapton was about 23 at the time

React to the other live performance from the Wheels of Fire double album. Spoonful.

Robert Johnson in the 1930s

Love this song every time I hear it! Passionate music!❤

this wonderful  band changed much of music .....I once had "Fresh cream " and "Desrali.Gears" but records don't travel well ( VW bus.and later a old wooden boat ) Miss that era when life was simple .the world more peaceful and the music was the best. ..and of course. the younger me.     Wrote a NFP book with proceeds going to a community fish hatchery. ***Confessions of a 1970s Coast Hippie***

Robert Johnson wrote and recorded Crossroad Blues in the 20’s. There has only been two Fillmore’s  that mattered. The Fillmore East in New York, and The Fillmore West in San Francisco. Honorable mention to Philadelphia for sure. Checkout The Allman Bros. Live At The Fillmore East. One of the finest live albums there is, recorded during their earliest recurring yearly residencies. You were searching for what to call this sound from Cream in the beginning of the video. It’s the fusion of Blues and Hard Rock, called Blues Rock. This is the finest example of it, along with Led Zeppelin’s, “When The Levee Breaks” to ever be laid down on magnetic recording tape, period. This one song is foundational to what would become The Classic Rock Era. ( Perspective from my own experiences) Your on hallowed ground with Cream, along with a small handful of others that ushered in the 70’s music scene. Such as Zeppelin, Purple, Sabbath, The Who, (all British) Hendrix (Seattle, Wa. but founded Jimi Hendrix And The Experience in London) among others…

These guys, along with The Jimi Hendrix Experience, defined the concept of the 'power trio.' Great performance. Loved your reaction.

The audio is from a performance at a different concert, included on the live disc of Wheels of Fire
