CORRECTION: “CDI ohms” are for CDI brand parts and not CDIs evaluation of OEM parts like I thought! Learn something new every day! Happy testing 🙏🏼

Carb cleaner is specifically engineered so that when you spray it into a carburetor, it will make a sharp turn in whatever direction is necessary so that the stream goes straight into your eyes. Treat it like welding, look away.

This is T-Mike - WOW THANKS FOR THE MENTION - this is the best video I have ever watched.
I will return the favor is a future video on “flipping motors”.
Keep up the good work.

Really great and informative video (As usual). For a part two, like you said, could you go through the proper timing...ANDDD, the motor cooling system, and maybe explain the whole lower unit ordeal, from the gears to the water pump system and all of that?🙏🙏🙏Thank you Professor Chris :))

I couldn’t care less about how to fix boat engines. But I can’t stop watching videos from this channel.

This is fundamentally the best info on CD motors ever presented to the layman…and probably beyond. 👍

Dude I've watched thousands of videos from YouTube never before have I seen a video explaining a procedure that I would make a comment.

You rock I’m in the process of buying a boat with a motor that the owner advised had a bad motor after reviewing this video I am pretty confident I can do the repair myself and save hundreds of dollars for it to be placed in a shop and get back a bill larger than the cost of Boat

Thank you for your fully detailed video now it’s time to get that out. Get in the water. 🎉

I did enough back yard work on outboards. I don't want to flip any outboards, I very much enjoy watching YOU do it. You have the best attitude and you me make smile as I watch you work on motors!!!!!!!!!!

Holy I've never been soo intrested to learn about something that I'm never going to use in my life. You're a great teacher and explain things simple enough that I even feel like I should buy a motor just to see if I can put what I learned to practice

Dude, I'm an old guy that's been in a bunch of different fields. This is - I mean it literally - the best instructional video I've ever seen. And, different category, the best instructional/promotional video I've ever seen. Job really really well done. Sadly, I'm a 4 stroke guy. Best of luck to you.

As an ASE certified tech, this video should be AWESOME. Happy New Year.

Important to note, be sure when testing to visually inspect the actual wires to the components you are testing, are not damaged, insulation cracks, broken, corroded.

i dont want to fix outboards. i want to watch YOU fix outboards and the technical genius + hilarity that ensues.

@mattcanyon5806 8 months ago

Awesome class! Yes we would like a video about timing. We would also like one about cooling. As a maintenance electrician I can say you were spot on about the electrical components, and I don't believe an engineer could have explained them any better.

You are a fantastic teacher. Looking to get my first old boat.

Bruh swear I’ve learned more in this video than i have in 25yrs!!.. and my family owns a shop… thank you💯

As a mechanic of 35 years (diesel and heavy equipment, but I do dabble in muscle cars, outboards, and small engines) I approve...lol. Would watch more if you made them. 😁

I do not understand at all why a young dude telling me all about boat motors makes me insanely happy and satisfied, but here we are.
My boyfriend has a boat and I have wanted to learn so that I can help with maintenance. Stumbled on this channel. Fell in love with the delivery.
He had some issues with his Ranger not having power to the trolling motor. Laid on the deck staring at wires for a long while and figured out what was wrong.
His Stratos doesn’t start well. It’s a cantankerous Evinrude.
Now I’m not going to say I’m going to fix that thing now, but I sure do feel so much smarter about maybe being able to track down the problem without being completely overwhelmed.
I appreciate you and I really enjoy your content.

Outboard newb here.... I thought you were jokingly mispronouncing starter as "stator" to be funny...but after you said it like 10 times I was like oh dang that's actually what it's called lol. Thanks for the breakdown!
