An upside with clay is also that even when it gets moist it still holds its shape quite well. Or is easily fixable. I had an idea on what could make their clay houses sturdier if they get submerged completely even, given they are surrounded by mushrooms: On earth clayhouses are built from a mix of clay and plant fibers, sometimes cow dung instead of straw and hay and sometimes both, but never from pure clay alone. I could imagine them using specific kinds of mushroom materials to mix into their clay. The mushrooms would then develop mycelium troughout the clay and make the houses very sturdy. I have cultivated mushrooms before and mycelium blocks can get quite sturdy. They also hold up under water. And they smell nice as an added bonus ^^

I like your little Neolithic spec-evo creature; I’d love for you to explore its local ecosystem/biosphere further. Great art :D

Wow. This is some insanely impressive and very pretty art. Reminds me a bit of the game Rain World. Gotta love some good ol' speculative astrobiology :cat-orange-whistling:

THIS IS INCREDIBLE??? The art and the ideas and designs are all so cool. Instantly obsessed with this world.
When you were talking about them traversing dryer areas i had a thought - what if as their tech got more advanced, specifically digging stuff, they started creating sort of Well-Cities. Imagine an exploring band of them reach a point where they need to make an outpost ,and just start digging lol. Eventually there could be whole roads going into deserts with big holes in the ground with houses and water at the bottom.
Really looking forward to seeing more of this world! Worldbuilding is so fun, and its fun to see others worldbuild!

That animation you did is the cherry on top, I love seeing the Tetrox actually moving around rather then just it being a pretty  picture.

love the animation at the beginning! very cool project

the flora is so cool, reminds me of the sea of corruption from nausicaa

WOW 9 whole minutes!!!  Love your animations and world building!

Maybe when the Tetrox start building larger societies they would center their city design around canals, kinda like Venice. I’m curious to see what their maritime culture would look like, considering their semi aquatic nature.

I just got recommended this on youtube and these videos have made me so giddy, i really love this world, it really makes me want to make my own aswell, but it sounds really hard to come up with a planet and such,,, ill try and learn more

My alien species are also amphibian like (although as adults lack a reliance on water)

Their bones aren’t made of calcium, but instead a stronger materials, so they didn’t evolve calcium egg shells since their young wouldn’t be able to break through. They keep their young in breeding ponds they carve out, similar to the tetrox.

I just found the convergent ideas rlly interesting

well since you asked to share some ideas, i decided to share my spec evo idea. it would actually be a split class of animals here on earth, the arthrochordata phylium, insect-likes with cartilaginous pseudo-endoskeletons that could grow up to 12 meters on water and 4-6 on land, formed after a partial extinction event where heavy metal levels in the water raised a lot, and these evolved to actually needing those intakes to produce the armor they have, which grows with them by a process where it kind of acts like some in between of scales and a regular exoskeleton. i still haven't made any art of it yet but like, idk bro i think i gotta revamp some things already

Man that fluffy Tetrox on the treehouse is so cute😭😭😭

Since they're amphibious, would it make sense for them to have part of their homes above water on stilts and another part that goes below the waterline?
I really love these guys, theyre adorable! Seems like a really interesting project so far, can't wait to see more!

The animation was a killer intro and also super interesting and cool world your building

7:13 iiiii might be getting distracted but i lowkey love your hair

2:39 The monocaps remind me of the Wollemia nobilis tree. They grow new branches from the base of their stump after fires, creating some wicked clumps of trees.

this is by far my favourite upcoming spec evo project!! not only are the designs incredible but the presentation is really engaging and i love how uniquely you these videos are. whilst i appreciate formal, heavily scientific projects, having a bit of silliness and just taking time to enjoy the process makes this really stand out. tetrox my beloved

I absolutely LOVE this. It’s so wonderful to see your real world inspiration and experimentation, too. You really made the whole thing just so tangible—Your artwork is fantastic and your use of color and understanding of lighting and contour to give everything that depth is making me crazy. Such absolutely scrumptious pieces. This is epic and I love the tetrox.

It's so cool to see you continuing to work on this world. I had an idea for how they may get woody material, similar to cactus, maybe some of the fungi or plant-like organisms could have a wood-adjacent skeleton that could provide some support and with little manipulation, utility like traps for better food acquisition. There could also be reed-like organisms that, with treatment, could also be hardened and used like wood. Another thing is that future developments of their species could include use of "ink" extracted from pigmented liquid spores from fungi, molds or plants that may use bodies of water for reproduction. Also, just maybe for inspiration, check out moss and fern life cycles! Ultimately, I love what I'm seeing here and how the tetrox have developed. I'm so glad to see that felted tetrox is still about.
