I've shared the exact experience....just recently..I tried to describe what occured ..I said it appeared like I had just awoken to a place that houses kids ..we were told we were to pack up and get on van (purple) bc we were going to our new families ...I was given a large Barney colored purple duffle bag with clothes...and we dropped off everyone one by one...and I met my family who raised me. .....I told folks it felt like I had just woken up .

Most people I have known that were adopted have negitive feelings about being adopted. Worse if they were not told at a young age.

So she grew up with loving parents and at 12 you are taking away from your parents. Maybe the parents lied, but they love her

When adoptive parents rename a child, is that a criminal act? This story makes it illegal. When parents don't tell their child by age 12 they've been adopted, this story makes it illegal too. I am saying this despite the circumstances because these are things real adoptive parents do and say they were waiting for the right time. Towards the end, the AI voice said the legal guardian is 17 years old when the sister is actually 18 years old. When these 'parents' took this child into their care, didn't they take the child out of the state welfare system or child services? Isn't that how her sister had been raised? Would the system have treated her burned face? Were the traffickers going to dispose of her as damaged merchandise? There is a lot missing from this story. The parents would have been better off taking the 2 year old and then going to authorities and try to adopt her and maybe they would have ended up with both sisters instead of one. Isn't that what those agencies are there for? To try to place abandoned children in suitable homes?

My husband and I have 3 adopted children, all now grownups.  We also were state foster parents in New Hampshire and in Washington state for many years.  I have recognized many of the issues raised in your story as similar to what we endured/treasured over the years.  This sto5ry was very well presented and with an honest and sympathetic approach that is fair to all parties.  There are many ways to build a family staying within the law and being honest and true to yourselves and to the children.  Ours has been quite the adventure.

Oh my goodness, thank you for a story that is different from all the others.    It is not very often now that I listen to stories all the way through.   As most are so very much the same, it is always obvious what would happen, so I just skip through them, hoping that there might be something different, but there never is, so thank you so much..

So they have no qualms about drugging her, but they don't take away her phone even though they clearly suspect that she is contacting someone about the newspaper story?

I am not sure that a 12 yr old would come up with the things in the car on her own
