Arrow on piston points to exhaust not front of the machine ;) It represents the flow of gasses. Good to know if you ever work on reverse or transverse engine!

The worst part of YouTube is it has made everyone feel like they need to be the foremost expert on everything if they make a video. I bet there are Yamaha techs who aren't as meticulous as you were. You did an awesome job on the bike and I'd be happy knowing you turned wrenches on a bike I own.

I don't usually comment on videos but I just wanted to get on here and thank you for showing us all of the ins and outs of fixing problems with bikes. I didn't grow up around them, but at the grand old lady age of 23 (jokes) I decided I really wanted to get into it. So, I found a good ole 2004 Yamaha TTR125L on Facebook marketplace and went to look at it, and it was a little rough around the edges. It had to be bump started probably 10 times throughout the 40 minutes I was there. But after watching your videos, I knew it wasn't a lost cause. I talked them down from $1,200 to $600, took it home, fully serviced it (air filter, oil, engine flush, new spark plug, carburetor and choke cable) and BOOM... It rips (as a beginner) and I am IN LOVE!! Thank you for showing us your processes through all of the different bikes and helping me diagnose and fix the problems. I got a really good deal on my first bike and it's definitely a life-long obsession! :)

The lapping with the old valves was genius, this gives me confidence I can hold onto my 2017 YZ450 and just do a full at home rebuild at like 300 hours just to keep my motor new.

I use the same lapping tool. Quick hack, take the suction cup off of the tool, tape up a drill bit and stick the suction cup on, put in drill. Use like normal, running both directions and reseating.
