Robert’s five finger one hand analogy also inadvertently aligns with the original goal Aegon the Conqueror had in uniting the 7 kingdoms. What a brilliant man, too bad he doesn’t give a fuck and is surrounded by ppl who gave too much of a fuck about the wrong things.

This is perhaps one of the few occasions where one could feel a modicum of sympathy for Cersei.  Robert is essentially telling her that there is nothing she could have said or done that could have made him love her, that he perhaps never truly understood the concept of love at all, except in the brotherly way of soldiers, as with Ned Stark.

However what it also is, on a deeper level, is justification.  It was probably far easier, eventually, to give the order to have his wine spiked so he'd have an "accident" whilst hunting on learning that she was doing it to someone she had no reason to love.

3:00 3:34 😢something she never acknowledged in Tyrion despite being the one who fixed the mess she and Jeoffrey caused by decapitating Ned Stark, and by not teaching Jeoffrey real decency, not wealthy fake decency

We need laws against YouTube thumbnails displaying the word "Masterclass."

That laugh they share is such a sad moment. Idk. If things had been different I wonder if Cersei could have been kind. If Robert could have been honorable with women and duty to the kingdom

4:47 4:59 😂the foreshadowed Jeoffrey mommy's boy Baratheon (cough, Lannister)

“Doesn’t make me feel anything.” 🥶

Masterclass

If Robert wasn’t such an asshat, Cersei may have been a fierce defender of Robert

That's a very interesting take. I did take this as an autopsy when I saw it but not for their marriage for Robert. Cersei isnt letting her guard down because of anything Robert is doing or saying. She's letting her guard down because she is going to kill him. The only time she usually lets people of power. See what she's thinking is right before she kills them. The wine Robert is drinking could literally have poison in it. If he had told her there was a chance their marriage could have worked then she would feel guilty about killing him, but it wouldn't have changed her mind about killing him. When he says they never had a chance because he loved somebody he can't even picture she doesn't just lose love for him she loses respect for him. If this was truly a candid conversation they would have both acknowledged that she was going to marry rhaegar and he was going to marry Liana. Robert never took Cersei as a wife. He took her as a prisoner. And that's why Sansa and Cersei have a bond. They are both prisoners of war .She has always felt like Robert's prisoner taken as a punishment to rhaegar for taking Lyana from him. She has always been an op. She has always favored Targaryen rule and Royal lineage which is why she sleeps with her brother chooses to bare his children and chose to put them on the Iron throne while she discarded her and Robert's child who never died and is Gendry. She is perverting Robert's bloodline by giving him the one thing we see in dunk and egg that the people of Westeros hated. Rulers born of incest. I think when Robert tells her there is a Targaryen coming to take over Westeros with the Dothrakis she assumes the girl is a fraud because she doesn't believe a Targaryen would ally with them and it's not until Danny lands on an actual dragon in the dragon pit that Cersei realizes her life has been a cruel joke as she is taken out by the family she always wanted to join.

Cmon man, at least be consistence
U admit that Cersei didnt felt anything about knowing the marriage was doom from the start, but then in the next sentence say that she felt relief?!?
She wasnt struggling about the marriage for over a decade, she say that herself, more then once, in this scene even
This scene did nothing to change the fate the Iron Throne, didnt change anything about Robert or Cersei thinking, let alone developed their character
Cersei still hates Robert, Robert still is indifferent towards Cersei, same way they were before
This scene is simply exposition to the audience, to showcase Robert love for Lyanna
Cersei didnt change her mind about Robert fate until Ned Stark confronted her about the paternity of her kids

These are good

9:10 9:20 something called pregnancy and childbirth in which she bled so much

5:40 5:48 if the script was well written and well executed, maybe the ldea that Cersei Lannister defeated Daenerys precatious move at Casterly Rock and High Garden, defeating also Olenna and the Sand Snakes by learning real military tactics from Rober experience

Jon's TV dad really fucked everything up hahaha (apparently in the books, aegon VI and jon snow are two entirely different people

Do you think if Robert didn't twist the knife with the cruelty of saying " no, there was never a chance for us" at a point when she was being the most truthful and vulnerable as we see her until she realizes she and her baby are going to die, something could have been a little different? Well, at least until Ned figured at the truth and was dense enough to tell her?

One thing that really pulled me out of this show was the blown-up threat of these. These unarmored savages posing any kind of threat to even a bad fighter in in full armor. The dothraki threat never seemed credible to me and it ruined the immersion of this. There's always like some disgusting pill. I had to swallow when everyone was going on about how dangerous they are and how we can't stop them

Poor Robert. Quasi Modo predicted all this.

I love that the scene happen even though in the books it never would have happened because Cersei isn't capable of meaningful conversation

But to be honest while it is understandable why many of the seven kingdoms want independence, but they need valyrian to beat back the second long night but at the same time Westeros is far old and did with it valyrian help back when valyrians were Shepherd, but Westeros magic and knowledge has be lost to time so understandable of why many think valyrian is needed even north wish for their independence/isolation
