So excited for you for your voyage on a new Sunflower ferry! Really shocked by the let downs of what I thought Sunflower standards are. No cabin windows, cramped accommodations for the facilities, no towels offered freely, iffy vending machines, and most importantly the vibration noise. It was louder than the ancient ferry it replaced. Your comment about it being a manufacturer defect is definitely correct. The ruff sea spray reaching the height of the deck was scary too! Aww... I was excited about this one until I saw there were no cabins with windows. :( My favorite part of travelling on Sunflower Sapporo was the balcony. I almost fell asleep out there- it was so relaxing!

I think he main reason the observation decks are so small is not because they prioritised cargo carrying capacity, but probably because LNG tanks take a lot of space, unlike the diesel of the old ships that can be fitted into small spaces around the hull and under the cargo spaces of the ship. All in all, a beautiful ship, and as much as they sacrificed the outside observation deck, you can always check out the views from the internal side windows/promenade.

You should report the excessive cabin noise to Sunflower. In addition to being an annoyance, it could be indicative of structural problems in the ship.

I’m glad I’m just watching if I was on that ferry, I would lose my mind with all those noises. God bless you the sunrise. It was beautiful.
