5hp is quite noticeable on a bike so if it is 55hp that's 8hp more plus the extra increase in torque. Also if you put a free flow pipe on it make good power.I actually saw 👀 some Indian article that said the 750 be 53-55hp & 62Nm but not official.Still be a market for the 650cc bike especially in Australia & New Zealand where we have LAMS Learner Approved Motorcycles under 660cc & power to weight ratio & be a long time before other 750's come out.Interceptor,Gt probably be next after Himmy 750 & be extremely popular.Only issue will be there will be tons of used 650's for sale when modern classic 750 released & they'll drop even further in price. When I had my Euro 4 RE650 in 2021-22 & modified it resale value was just as much or a tad lower than a new one but they did increthe price by $500nz after I got mine now modified one's a worth a lot less now there's been a few hundred thousand RE 650's being sold Worldwide since then. All the tech in the T40 will keep price higher & £6000 for XCScrambler 400 which is beefed up & tubeless wheels but less tech probably put T40 at a similar price. The tubeless wheels on the XC400 cost more than Cornering Abs,TC & cruise control on the T40 & release price might be £5999 similar to XC Scrambler 400 but all speculation till it happens.
If I didn't know better , I would have said that this 750 Adv bike is a " parts bin special " . Bitza 411 , bitza 450 and bitza Interceptor . Cobble a bike together with what we've got and hope for the best . I hope I'm wrong . Fingers crossed that the 750 Himmy proves to be a capable bike and a success for RE . They rarely get things wrong , but the Shotgun does come to mind . The price of the 750 Himmy compared to Yam Tenere , Honda Transalp etc will be crucial .
Hi Willie, I am interested in the Himalayan 750 but, I wouldn't say excited. I think it's going to be in excess of 230kg and that's a little too heavy for me. I bought the 450 this year and that has more than enough power for myself and a pillion. The 450 weighs in at about 195kg and has 40bhp. If the 750 is 55bhp but does weigh 130+kg that kind of cancels out the power advantage over the 450 anyway. I think the 750 is aimed at being more of a tourer than an adv bike especially with the 19" front wheel. I do hope its a huge success though.
Hi Willie - it’s Big Rodders on Ireland. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 750 didn’t produce a lot more power. A number of manufacturers have had to up the CCs to compensate for tightening emissions legislation. Honda’s SH300 used to produce more power than my SH350 model. Also, air cooling will inhibit maximum power as the engine tries to comply with said legislation.
I’m thinking that Himalayan 750 is going to be more a road biased adventure style bike, rather than something that’ll get taken off road. I’m sure some light gravel tracks and those single track lanes with the grass up the middle will be fine, but I’d be surprised if it was more capable than that.
What doesn't excite me about the Himalayan 750 will be it's weight and it's just the wrong engine for what I consider to be an ADV bike. Generally not excited by this bike. Simply it is the weight, add to that panniers, camping kit/ a pillion + luggage and you've got going on half a ton riding on 2 wheels!! It's madness !!! As for Ernie too, I had no doubts it would start OK but I can't help feeling little Ernie could do with a big brother to look after him in the garage. That lovely Triumph, not the little one but the next sized up would be just the right companion. But if you have a really sensible head on your shoulders the Honda NC750X with DCT makes an awful lot of sense. Completely different bike, utterly completely but I might get rid of the mighty Strom next year and down size to that bike. Ofcourse Chug will be a keeper and so will the "Inty too" (did you see what I did there) :) Next year I shall be 65 !!!!!! Where did all the years go?
Never sell Ernie 2...re RE 750... cc isn't everything, 650 is a magic motorcycle number. Some manufacturers have to relearn the engineering of peak motor performance, weight distribution and ignore Thumbergian draconian government regulations, I'm sure Ducati could give em a few tips😊😊. Thanks mate.
The Himalayan 750 engine looks more like a twin version of J series 350 long stroke engine, not the same as the 650, if you look closely it resembles the J series 350 from the side view with similar fins and cylinders.
Thought I should mention that I have never heard any of your voice replies to messages. I don't know if it is a problem my end as I don't have a microphone on the PC and it might only work in cases where 2 way communication is possible. For me it is the engine shape I dislike with the RE 650, so a bigger version would have the same objection. You were talking about that Benda the other day and I just watched a video about a Benda 500 V twin. It was a Harley copy, so not my cup of tea but if they did a retro style version I would be interested.
So a Himalayan is in my future and the 750 is exciting but a bit of a head scratcher to me. Heavier than the 450, not much more power but a bit more. Decent looking ride. I don’t know, it is interesting. Just have to wait and see how they get on for a bit. I don’t think I will buy the first one but never say never!!!😂😂
Thank god it started ! You wife might have murdered you if you'd have to give that bike away ! And the thought on the price of the T40 seems to have gone up to £7000 ( or thereabouts ) now. Mostly due to the cost of the tons of tech it has, and the fact they had to heavily modify the frame to take twin rear shocks. We shall have to wait and see. Oh and I found out that it has riding modes. A 30hp bike and they give riding it modes.... My mind is now truly boggled lol. Still, if people like the look of the thing enough, they'll buy it anyway, never mind the price. And in answer to your question, am I excited about an upcoming Himmie 750 ? No, because I'm not into adventure bikes.
Bad move by Enfield, saturated market and competing with fully loaded Chinese dual purpose machines that have flooded this market. Stick with their bread n butter, low cost , low capacity where they have a huge following despite competition. I only see this ending badly.
My words are not directed at Willie because I know him and he also knows me. I also know the average person that rides motorcycles and so...Are you planning on bench pressing or deadlifting it? Will it ride you it or will you ride it? I only ask because so many that make comments regarding the weight of so many bikes are overweight and/or they are out of shape themselves. I have seen a YouTube video of some British folk test riding a 200cc adventure type bike and one guy fell over and couldn't even pick up a 200 class bike without help. An average man. I am old now but pursued health and strength for my entire life and even in my 60s could easily lift my GL1800 up from laying on its side, especially if I was upset about it being there, LOL! People are pathetic especially so the majority of younger folk. Lazy.
I am not being mean, I am being realistic. I have seen the whinging about weight in other motorbike reports. I am just speaking on what I think is the real problem. People. We live in a time of tremendous progress and not just in motorbikes but in many facets of life. Technology will improve upon itself. Too bad people just want to stare at their stupid cell phones. Even in the gym, I see them doing that for many minutes at a time. Pathetic.
As for the Himie 750? I am looking forward to seeing it in the real world.
SS in America!!!
The upcoming RE Himalayan 750...The beginning on a new era for Royal Enfield??
