Luv it luv it, can't wait for the live I/O demonstration and tutorial. 🧐👍

My favorite YouTuber

Hey man I love your videos can you make a video explaining the new changes to the nremt test and best ways to study

I meant to put why do they do IVs in the foot on babies

Not wearing a glove might feel dirty, but when you disinfect skin, that same disinfectant on that very same swab cleans your finger too. Besides people get scratches all the time and it is not like asphalt, dirt, kitchen knife, gravel or much anything else are cleaner than your disinfected finger. Most people needing medical help or examinations are old, sick, do not really exercise, have ice cold fingers (low blood flow) and can have low blood pressure. Good luck trying to feel a tiny low pressure vein with a patient without muscle mass, very loose soft tissue and skin through a glove.

Next thing to note is, having a cancer or lymph nodes removed does not prevent using that arm but requires proper testing and following it does not swell even in the long term.

Next thing that came to mind is importance of knowing what shape of needle tip your cannula has to set it at a right angle. Steep angle works with all cannulas, but shallow angle works only with certain types of tips.

Fourth thing is the importance of prepping the arm by letting it hang down and relax before tourniquet is placed so gravity fills veins as much as possible. If patient has poor veins, letting him pump his arm as if he was performing biceps exercise while resisting his arms movement (to mimic him having a dumbbell in his hand)  to pump blood to veins to puff them is a good option.

When choosing the size of cannula and where it is inserted, one should consider what it will be used for: For instance saline is easy unless you need a lot of it fast. Blood (transfusion) is thick and needs a large diameter cannula. Contrast medium can be injected at high pressure and can cause discomfort depending on where it is placed.

I would not put pressure on the cannula while the needle is inside. I fear it might puncture vein or cause discomfort. Just hold the cannula with a thumb, use index finger to block the vein (do not push on top of the plastic cannula tube inside the vein as it will not block anything and you just get blood all over, but from further down the vein) and then pull out the needle.

@25:10 That is a good point that you should not have your hand in that position. It is not just a safety issue, but stretching a vein also makes it flatter and more difficult to use. Likely you just stick a needle all the way through.

I have an in person interview for an EMT trainee position in two weeks! I hope to join the EMT world. Thank you for your informative videos!

i get an iv 1+ times per month and i recognized every step lol my veins are super super shy so usually they have to use a heating pad to make the veins show up all the time

W video

Thanks for the video, also thanks for help passing nremt, I'm starting out as an ED tech, you think I'll be doing these ivs on patients?

Why the switch from Amateur EMS?

Then why do they put all these in the foot for babies

Did you realized that you said " I will advance my turniquet" instead of saying to advance my catheter. 🙉
