I totally follow your points on alcohol. I have had DJ friends who died much too early because they let it control them and not the other way round. If you ask me - the best sets are delivered, when you are a bit tipsy yourself and can put yourself in the kids place, who are dancing right in front of you.

The thing that struck me was that both of you made that choice on your own. Sure there was pressure to change, but you weren’t forced to do so. . When I look at what’s different about those of us who get sober and never look back, compared to people who never stop a cycle of cleaning up, going back to rehab, getting dry, etc, it becomes obvious. Choosing to stop makes all the difference. The staff at the rehab facility said I was the only alcoholic they’d ever seen arrive sober. I knew I was done with it, and I took my last drink a little after midnight before hopping on a plane the next morning. Then I set the bottle down in the hall outside my door, still half full, and haven’t had a drink since.
