"Oh I need a magnifier." (Goes and gets magnifiers on.) (Immediately lifts the visor.)

I love that the motion of the tip was such an important factor for you

I don’t care about the sword you’re making, but your passion and love of this sword is really coming through and I’m thoroughly enjoying watching you work on it!

In 1987 I was fortunate enough to stay with the monks at Crouching Tiger Monastery on the mountain Omei Shan.   I learned a lot. One unusual thing that stood out was the need to defend yourself on the trails on the mountain against pretty large monkeys which would try to jump on you.  I was given a bamboo staff that had Chinese characters along its length, obviously really old and used, to use against the monkeys if necessary, which it wasn’t because they just needed to see you had one to stay away.

How is nobody else talking about the music in this vid?  Epic and chill at the same time, and first edit rolls it in under the radar just perfect.  Great job on the sword so far.  Glad to see the pantograph as well.

It's always nice to watch someone else crafting while I'm crafting, gives me a sense of comradery.

Growing up in an era where my interests in all things "shop" came from watching This Old House with my dad, kids these days have no idea how lucky they are to have access to maker content at their fingertips. Thank you, Adam. 🙌

This is great art ! Adam Savage, you are an ARTIST ! That's undeniable.🙏🏻

I’ve been taking jewelry classes at my college and the rolling mill is my favorite piece of equipment. it’s so simple, but it can be used to do so much.

The custom-made template for tracing the pattern with the mill is such an ingenious bit of engineering!  That pantograph mill is so cool

Dear Adam, way to blow the curve! This is a sword I have wanted for my collection for quite some time. Knowing what is out there I was ok for settling for something of moderate quality and then perhaps fixing it up a bit but not now. Now that I have seen your masterpiece I wouldn’t be happy with anything less than the quality you have produced. Sadly I doubt I will ever acquire the resources or the access to said resources you have to make such a work of art myself. Your sword is beautiful and I hope you are happy with it.

This is beautiful, I am so excited. I love seeing the genuine excitement on Adam's face too, it's contagious!

When I do silver inlay, I cut a groove using some picks with grinded points like mini chisels and moded knifes to cut open a  grove in the wood (not removing anything). I then go in with a bunt chisel, almost like a flat head screw driver to further widen the grove. I then hammer and bend my silver pieces to perfectly fit into each grove (from silver wire), then hammer them down in to the grooves. THEN comes the magical part I apply water, the cut wood swells back into shape locking in the silver pieces, with a snug fit without any gaps between silver and wood. If Dremel-away wood this does not work, and when you apply too much glue to the wood this further prevents it from swelling. With this said your method was faster Adam and you might probably know that you can do it this way too. For anyone wanting to give it a try i can highly recommend grinding special mini knifes anything from stanley cartridge knifes to picks that are given sharp chisel tips. A knife like you use in the video I find hard to get good results with its just too flimsy and long. Great vid!

I'm kinda surprised Adam didn't pull out a vacuum chamber when he said he was worried about air bubbles in the resin casting.

Multi part series incoming? Oh yes. Thanks.

Swords!!!! Loved Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

I hope one day Adam does a series build on the Kurgen's suitcase and sword from Highlander

"Oh, I am so glad you asked." Got some strong Frank Gorshen vibes there and was reminded of that infectious laugh you let loose when the ejector seat popped out back in the early Mythbusters days
