Kev is and remains the best written character on a series ever. The uniqueness of his appalling humor in contrast to his fragile, weak, scared and scarred soul is still standing lonely at the top of tragiedy/comedy writing.
Kevs final monologue, no matter how many times I listen to it, brings me to tears. I feel we can all learn something from Derek, as fictional as he may be. I think Ricky was trying to put forth the person we all wish we could be. Innocent, non-judgmental, caring and forgiving, but always sticking up for those that cannot speak for themselves. I think he "hits the nail on the head" when he says "the only shortcut that works... and that is kindness". Now back to trolling 1D clips...
I honestly think Kev was one of the largest twists in cinema/film/tv history
The whole season he is built up to be someone you mock, someone you despise, someone you frown upon for being rock bottom, but at the end he delivers one of the greatest series of lines ever recorded.
He opens up his soul and shows that no matter who/what you are or have become in life, you can admit your faults, reckon with yourself, and find joy and pleasure in life for things that are natural and not just in something that damages your body....
Friendship, happiness, pure joy, companionship, caring, brightness, etc......... etc.........
"I'm not a failure because I didn't succeed, I'm a failure because I didn't try"
Kevs final monologue with Coldplay music has me blubbing endlessly EVERY time I watch it ( min of 50 times)… perfection in execution, writing and editing
Best joke for me
