"I'm ready to tap out of pop culture references"

As a teenager, the insane amount of pop culture references is actually exactly why I love this movie so much. It's a realistic depiction of teenagers where they're not just all lumped into "rude kids whose only goal in life is to stay out past their very reasonable curfew" (which is depicted far more often than you might think) and instead shows our fondness for pop culture in the form of humour and playfully insulting each other.

I'm not a diehard Turtles fan but this was a fun movie. The fact that the animators weren't overworked is very appreciative. If most companies had that approach instead of reaching deadlines, we'd have more high quality media.

12:53 - Setting aside Jeremy's ignorance regarding the production, the Splinter fight sequence serves a narrative point by demonstrating his prowress as a marital arts expert, reaffirming his authority as a parental figure

This movie is too cool for them to get away with this.

"I'm ready to tap out of pop-culture references"
he... he does know he's watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? With a focus on Teenage? That's like 90% of their humor

"Pop culture references? In my pop culture reference compilation disguised as movie cri- Err uhh, I mean, satire?! SIN!!!"

Jeremy having an issue with them watching a live action movie in their animated reality would be like saying we shouldn't have animated films in our live action reality. Live action to them would be the equivalent of animated films to us. Why would he think everything in an animated world should also be animated?

Jeremy sinning April for “not letting the turtles pick their own toppings”…dude, she literally asked them “How do you guys FEEL about pepperoni?” She’s offering the turtles the OPTION of pepperoni, meaning if they say no, she’ll probably pick something else or ask the turtles to pick.

12:55 Did this dude seriously say a scene where Master Splinter gets to show off his moves and obliterate a room full of goons by himself is "absolutely pointless?"

9:28 How dare you birdman I will continue eating my McNuggets at exactly 10:31 in the morning and you can't stop me.

Putting a Power Rangers reference at the end is actually quite poetic. The big playground debate for many young millennials was, "Are you a Power Rangers kid or a Ninja Turtles kid?"

Then Pokemon came along and threw a nice, warm blanket over all of our heads.

Fun fact about why this movie didn't make as much money as it should've. It didn't release simultaneously around the world. It had a staggered release, it was available for streaming in America before it had even hit cinemas in my home country

@foxstarkiller 2 years ago

15:07-15:22 Not only is yes the fuck this movie is getting a sequel, it's also getting a spin-off streaming series on Paramount+ that's starting on April 26 of this year, so Jeremy is a thousand percent talking out of his ass here.

8:05 Remember kids, if you see someone stealing food or some other basic necessity to live, no you didn't.

Remember kids: if you see someone stealing food from a store: no you didn’t.

Caveat though, if you gotta steal food to survive, don’t do it from mom and pop shops. They’re also out here struggling these days. Do it at Walmart. Given how much they cost tax payers you indirectly paid for it anyway

As a graveyard shift worker, I definitely want some Nuggets at 10:31am. Breakfast food only gets old QUICK

Wish this movie got nominated for best animated feature but hey, we can't all have what we want. At least the sequel and TV series are already underway. Oh and props to them for treating the animators well; now if only we could get some of the other big studios to adopt this practice.
