“I think I helped wipe out the sixties.”

And goodnight.

Iggy is the only one left of the four people on the couch.

I love the 70s when mainstream TV like Dinah would have Iggy and David on their show! Too cool!

From my perspective as a long-time Bowie fan (since 1974) NO ONE has ever done a better job interviewing him than Dinah Shore. Bowie was on her show around 1974, and she got David to open up in a way that no one else could. In this one, David tried to be deferential to Iggy, but it was also evident how comfortable Iggy was with Dinah as well.

Part of Dinah's appeal was that she came off very motherly. But way beyond that, she was genuinely interested in getting to know her guests and she was incredibly sincere. She made both David and Jimmy feel very comfortable and asked them deeper and more probing questions than they usually got.

It's a great reminder that the strangest bedfellows often can work wonders. I mean, really, who would have ever thought that Dinah Shore would be the best person to handle Iggy Pop and David Bowie? I love it!

"I helped wipe out the 60s". Great quote and so true

I love every person in this interview, there's so much genuine curiosity, respect and authenticity. This is what's missing in the mainstream today.

Bowie is so humble here. Obviously just there for an artist he believed in.

"I'm gonna call you Jimmy" "Sure, I appreciate it".  David "Do you mind me talking?: Wow. Can we please go back to the 70s?

The amount of respect these two dudes had for each other is beyond what the industry now can sustain. Very heartwarming and validating video for anyone who collaborates with others musically

Iggy. A pioneer of Punk!

I never realized how chill Dinah was! David made her blush though 😂😂

ooh IGGY love

"I think I helped wipe-out the 60's" 😂😂😂

This must have blown so many young minds at the time.

I looove nihilism... Classic quote right there

I was watching this with my band mates at my parents house when my uncle showed up and walked in and said "What kind of a freak show are you running around here"!

iggy and david are adorable together..  "idk, jimmy you wanna tell em?"   "uh idk, why dont you"     "oh okay, you dont mind if i talk?"

Quintessential wild rockers and polite too...imagine

wonderful conversation, quite sincere, intelligent, raw...

wonderful. Dinah Shore was a lovely person, so charming. and look here how she steps way outside her range and interfaces with a world she did not inhabit, (proto-punk rock) and she does it with beautiful grace. and then what about the music? well, it's really great. what a nice moment for television history. people need to understand that back in those days this was not anything close to typical to witness. Dinah Shore had a lot of elderly fans. And she was a pretty conservative person.  I'm very grateful I got to see this here on youtube.
