Oh my girl, you have opened up one of the most amazing rabbit holes in American music!
She is one of my favourite guitarists - and a crazy good slide player - and then there is her voice - and her stage presence…….
She is sooooo good.
Shout out to my fellow “old folks”
Peace

Its hard loosing someone you love I know. I am sure you will find happiness again, you are a gentle and beautifull soul.  I can see that when you react to music.

Beautiful song. There's almost nothing better than the authenticity of Bonnie's voice with Bruce Hornsby's keys.

Don’t ever ask yourself “what more can I give to make it work?”

I just got out of a 23 year marriage. It took me that long to realize that no matter how much I did, or gave, it not only wasn’t appreciated it had become expected.  And one sided.  You’re better off figuring it out after 6 months than 23 years.

Hang in there RR!

Its an absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking song.  We have all been there

Elton John said that Bruce Hornsby was the best pianist he’s ever heard.

This is one of my favorite lyric lines of all time.
I'll close my eyes then I won't see the love you don't have when you're holding me.  Amazing

Bonnie Raitt is widely regarded as a premier blues-rock slide guitarist, frequently ranked among the top guitarists of all time, including a spot on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists.

My Dear Rogue,... as one who has been through heartache after heartache I can tell you honestly that if you rech within and discoer how beautiful you are without anyone else to validate it, you will have an internal happiness, and self-love that no one will ever be able to take from you. Happiness is an internally created state and is NEVER developed through external sources. Easier said than done but I know that what I am saying and how I have lived, I am sharing a precious truth with someone whom I know is a very beautiful person,... YOU!!!

Bruce and Bonnie here and John Prine and Bonnie doing Angel from Montgomery. She always makes the music better.

Dear Miss Royce,  I would like you to be my therapist.  You are gifted with the ability to feel.   This song slays me every single time.  The heartbreak that we spend hours trying to hide when at work so that coworkers won''t take pity and patronize us.   It takes a very brave person to sing this song with real feeling.  Bonnie does it.

Sometimes we have to say goodbye to someone, in order to say hello to the right one when he/she comes along. Blessings to you.

If the relationship isn't working, you're in the wrong one. You're smart and you have a big heart... you'll find the right one.

This is the best version of this song by anybody,  even surpassing Bonnie's own studio release.

💔 That title is one of the hardest truths in life. Because you truly can’t make anyone do that, ever. Love doesn’t work that way. And I learned it at an unfortunately young age. Someone that I loved strongly, but too deeply. And it is still the toughest lesson I’ve ever had to take. So all credit to Bonnie for saying it in the most musically sublime way.

Just love when youngins finally hear our music..........

Bonnie is a second generation performer. Her dad was John who was a Broadway and film musical star. In addition to her voice she is an incredible slide guitarist.

Her voice was once aptly described as "honey soaked and whiskey scratched".   👍

There is the young Bonnie voice, the grown woman voice ( this one ) and the older woman voice and that’s got a lifetime of wisdom in it. I grew listening to her and seeing her in concert. Gorgeous . This is my favorite Howlin at the moon song. 😊 When you need a good cry - no song is any better

Maybe the best goodbye song every written, and Bonnie delivers it perfectly. This was the first Bonnie Raitt song that many people ever heard, so they had no idea she's an amazing guitar player, as well. Bruce Hornsby on piano adds a lot, too.
