Like how a river starts with shyness, And then meanders slowly, And then becomes energetic in valleys, and rushes, Into a great waterfall with a mighr and roar of lion, And, combining all other rivers into itself, swelling, Finally joining the ocean of oneness... Oh, what a vision you gave us, through the rendering of this raga, Of the Almighty behind our limitedness!
I don't have words which can reach to my regards to the uploader. Very rare piece. In this rendering PanditG surpassed his ownself. Requesting to listeners, off every sounds even noises, level-up ur heart in a calm & heavenly position. Then u will realize that what PanditG expressed. My assumption, on that day, he was in heartache, that came out from his every note. what a depth in feeling & expressions. I have been listening him since 2000. Absolutely rare piece.
I am listening to Bhimsenji's Malkauns since, 1975, when I was 8 years old. My Dad used to play it at night before sleeping. Today I listened to this performance for the first time. I don't have words to explain the beauty of it.
What a perfect blend of texture and grandeur of this mid-night raag !!
I heard this raag by Panditji (with same set of accompaniment) for the first time at Pandharpur (my native place) in May 1965 when I was barely 10 years old. This musical mehfil was organized by my father-a high school teacher and his photographer friend late Balu Ruplag...My father was extremely lucky to have life-long friendship with Panditji...and also with Appa Jalgaonkar...
In 1973, I completed my B. Sc Hon and my elder brother BA Eng Hons. That year, my only sister entered KGMC for her MBBS. So, our parents bought the Telerad TV for three of their children. But all three were in hostels. That winter during break at home, my father, who used to listen to Nationsl Program of Music on Saturdsy nights, from 10 pm - 11 pm had Pandit ji singing This Raag Malkauns on DD. We all had retired to bed to sleep while Papa continued to hear the rendition in the adjacent room. The soft voice of Pandit ji kept ringing in my ears. My mother and brother sister had gone into slumber. I could not sleep and got up to join Papa in the room to listen till 11 pm. when it came to an end. It was the first time at the age of 19 years I was listening to Indian classic vocal recital. So, I asked Papa who is this vocalist?" I was compketely blown by the performance. Papa told his nsme and said he was the No 1 vocalist. Since then I never looked back and has listened live performances of all vocalist Jasraj, Malik Arjun, Kishori, Parvin Sultana, Rashid Khan, Gangu Bai Hangal, M S Subhalakshmi, Dagar Brothers, Rajan & Sajan Misra. When posted at LBSNAA Mussoorie, I had a cassette that had Pandit ji's recital of Shudh Kalyan and Darbari that I would listen almost every night when finally retiring to sleep. Tonight at Uqaluit, Nunavut, Canada when it is pasr midnight I am listening Pandit ji. Outside temperature is -35C and heavy wind is blowing creating a whistling soft noise. While Pandit ji voice is enriching my every pore of my body. Tripti hi tripti ka abhaas ho raha hai❤❤❤❤❤🇨🇦🇮🇳🇧🇩🇯🇴🙏🇮🇳🇧🇩🇯🇴🇨🇦🇮🇳🇧🇩🇯🇴
This seems to be a Bhimsenji's younger days performance on Aakashvani ( All India Radio ) What a great performance ! Mesmerising Malkauns ! I have this more than 100 times !
What crazy, powerful taans! :D Awesome, legend stuff. Having said that, it is sad to see people saying stuff like 'how can anyone dislike this?' It is a bit immature to think that what you like is universally lovable and that someone has a compromised aesthetic sense if they dislike what you like.
