Andrew Scott returned to the South Bank as curtain rose on the London Film Festival Wednesday with opening film "Elsinore."

Scott stars as Ian Charleson, the Scottish actor who performed “Hamlet” at the Royal National Theatre in London in 1989 while suffering from AIDS.

Walking the red carpet at the Southbank Centre - a stone's throw away from the National - Scott was joined by castmates Olivia Colman, Johnny Flynn, Billie Piper and Luke Thompson.

For Scott, the night marked a full circle moment.

"It's so weird, you know, it's so extraordinary," Scott said. "We've got so many, some of the actors that were in that production of 'Hamlet' are in this movie and the film is peppered with people that we all know and that I've worked with before."

Directed by Simon Stone from a screenplay by "Pride" writer Stephen Beresford, "Elsinore" won the International People's Choice award at the recent Toronto International Film Festival.

Stone said Scott, who played Hamlet himself in the West End in 2017, was the perfect fit for the role.
