Tom Blyth just owned this role.

Dr. Gaul deserved more screentime in this film
Viola Davis ate it up

That one mentor in a way deserved her fate for teasing her tribute for food, I mean they don’t really get to eat a lot and to tease someone like that is just cruel and heartless

He's got such a talent to distort a good idea into something revolting and vicious. True evil mastermind.

3:25 right in that laugh she knew that Student was just a clout chaser and instantly knew she was gonna use the student to test her snakes. As soon as the student spoke up she sealed her fate.

It kinda amazes me how this saga of books an movies exemplify how our world works, from the way we build parasocial relationships with celebrities to how governments treat their people

It was so fun watching these two just back-and-forth manipulate each other.  Their acting and scripting is so subtle and so well done.  Incredible work.

Snow just understands the complexities of real life.

"Dean Highbottom is wrong, my classmates too"

That really adds to Dean Highbottom's dislike of Coriolanus.

The scream at the end is the girl, who was teasing the tribute with water, getting the bottle smashed in her throat by that tribute

Sejanus stood up for the people of districts, if he were still alive after the 10th games, the story would have been different or not so cruel at least.

Except he wasnt being "nice", he was trying to win because his family was broke and he needed to get a higher education to save himself...His own father helped create the HUNGER GAMES..He didn't plan on falling in love with her, that was by accident...Then it went badly, and even though he married, he didnt find that spark he was searching for.

2:50 That little head shake. Highbottom knows Snow is right, but he also sees his drunken idea spiraling more and more out of control.
6:14 Also…my goodness, look at his eyes. Nothing reaches them. Even the way he’s clinging to the bars looks obsessive and hungry. But Tom’s acting is so subtle that you only see it if you’re looking. Brilliant.

I feel so bad for bottom, and sejanus, two good sides then theres snow and dr gaul being sadistic wanting to kill kids. Then bottom just dies at the hands of snow.. the whole thing about the games is too imitate empathy. And snow played that game.

7:08 this one moment really did just make me smile, like it was one of the few moments that really showed they were all kids in a war and all suffered in a way for a time…unfortunately that doesn’t end up going the right way.

Snow’s point is if they create a dynamic where people start to care about the tributes then those people will be more invested in the tributes to win so because people want their tributes to win more even if the tributes end up losing and dying in the end, end up be treated better and will have been given more things like more food because more people are emotionally invested for them to win it keeps the overall dynamic of the games going but it’s a way to make the tributes be treated better so they’re given more things like food overall in many ways he’s trying to maintain the status quo because he knows trying to change everything is either ridiculously difficult or impossible so he’s trying to maintain the overall structure but introduce small changes to make everything better, even if it’s only in small ways

Ending with the AaaaAaaaAaaaAAHHhhHHh! Haha

I feel like she was def into him but didn't get to know him well enough to see if he was someone that she can be with

What’s interesting that this is a show of who’s got the most power: Highbottom thinking he can just simply disqualify Snow when the Gamemakers ultimately get a final say, but when Gaul shows up she shows Highbottom up. The way the students heads turn when Gaul calls Snow “your star mentor” shows who’s got the most sway in that room.

They only have to care about Highbottoms opinion up until they finish school, but Gaul not only is in a higher positioned and therefore her attention is more valued, but can unilaterally determine WHAT is the most acceptable behavior to perform for her games, thus instilling a deep sense of obedience in them

1:47 that look on Highbottoms face says a lot about
