My late husband was very confused at the end days with cancer he did not know me any more, it was heartbreaking, he had hospice at home with help from my two sons and age concern were marvellous, he was 59 years old.

I used to work as a carer and as long as I had gloves on I was fine !

What a wonderful place for people.

Her thought of poop being so terribly awful is sad, but not everyone can handle it But at least she did it! 😊👍🏽 Congrats on that!

What a fantastic way to volunteer, helping these people!

I empathize with Jenny and the other spouses. I was only 46 and husband 47 when he died at home from cancer. Even at tbe relatively "young"age of 46, it was really exhausting to care for him as he grew sicker and more frail. I also had children ages 11 and 15. It was awful. I will  never forget the bone weary exhaustion of 24 hr caring. Hardly any sleep, he would get violently ill night and day. Hospice in the US has no options. Here is your hospital bed, tons of meds, no visits, you are on your own.

As Funeral Director/ and an Embalmer, I've seen so many funeral service students pass out in the morgue.

I stumbled across this on my feed and ive been absalutely hooked. I am an Emergency medical technician and i love helping people. I am now going to look up hospice volunteer opportunities around here. Im a cancer survivor as is my husband and in a blink of an eye this could be us or any of our loved ones. I truely hope should that day come we will have a place like this to turn to. Bless every one of u for all that u do.

People are being so mean about Jenny. She’s obviously in distress and very upset about a horrible situation. She’s dealing with it by being angry instead of sad, which is very common. She thinks her husband wouldn’t be dying if it weren’t for certain choices he made, which may or may not be true, but it’s a valid feeling. She probably feels like smoking was more important for him than being around for her. Is what she’s saying pleasant, or easy to hear? No. But I’m glad she is able to express herself. Please try to understand where people are coming from rather than viewing yourself as so much better of a person for coping differently, or even just assuming you’d cope differently with a situation you’ve never been in yourself.

The man that was just taken to hospice so his wife could get a little break .I cried when he said I'm not going to be here forever I don't like leaving her alone .Your with the angels now.I pray his wife is doing well .☮️🙏❤️🌼🌹

I am ex NHS.  In my second job, I worked for the Pathologist.  I was told that she had a habit of phoning from a PM, for the deceased`s case notes.  The Mortician, who worked for the department said he would show me a nice corpse.  I felt very like the lady going round the fridges.

I understand that caring for a loved one who is dying is rough but she’s being so hard and rude. He’s not a burden…he’s supposed to be the love of your life. Treat him as such.

Sheila's journey with breast and bone cancer mirrored my aunt's journey exact. Breast cancer in the 1980s, breast taken, survived thru other health issues diabetes, a heart attack & then her other breast needed to be taken after breast cancer was found again. Only to find later that the original cancer from the 1980s had sat dormant within a rib & became active with the second breast cancer. She had been a volunteer with hospice and breast cancer support groups throughout her life (her mother had been a breast cancer survivor). She passed in 2018, almost an exact year after a close friend had also passed while on hospice care at home
