The FL was sidelined by her family because they wanted to make up for everything to her older sister, who had been lost as a child. She was always expected to give in, and whenever she spoke up, everyone saw her as jealous of her sister.

Her fiance, Shen Yanzhi, loved the FL but was too confident she would never leave him. He thought he could always make up for hurting her with his closeness to her sister.

The FL was lucky that the Third Prince fell for her and she got her happy ending with him.

There is an inconsistency in Shen Yanzhi's story. In the main story, he only realizes the bride isn't the FL after lifting the red wedding veil. But in the extra, he learns the news while visiting his grandfather outside the capital.

The older sister, who mainly served as a plot device, was only mentioned a little after both sisters got married.

Overall, it's an okay story as long as you don't think too much about the plot holes.

When someone has been browbeaten, diminished and brutally abused, physically and mentally for all of their life because of a once lost sister. What is the point of trying to talk and defend herself to these abusers, they just don’t care.

Love how the story concluded with more than one extra story to wrap up other pov

Being a family scapegoat is sad but sharpens one's survival instincts to forge a path that doesn't depend on blood bonds it's easier to live without entanglements

I hope he never betrays her and takes concubines even though he’s emperor 😮

This was a Good story. I like that it was not a rebirth and the FL is intelligent and aware enough to recognise the situation and dump the fiance.

Well, fortunately she traded those  flower hairpins with phoenix crowns later anyway. Leaving the physically & mentally abusive “family”.

There’s some consistency error there. At first the story tells that the ex-fiance only found out the marriage exchange in surprise when opening the veil on the wedding night. He’s out of the capital the whole time and only came back on the wedding day. Then in the ‘side story’ later out of a sudden the character found out about it 3 days earlier from a servant, have time to run to her house seeking the truth and all that 😂

So why can't she speak up for herself. She's just a doormat

The comments seem satisfied with the story, but i find myself really disappointed with the FL. She's just another one who won't speak up when given the chance, staying quiet whenever she has the chance to speak her mind in any way. She's too meek for her pov to be enjoyed. I feel like if she does at last speak up (likely at the end, as these stories do), it'll be when she has someone else's strength behind her. It's like she has no will of her own. "I couldn't speak a single word" is incredibly annoying to me now. Really? Not a single word?? Not even one? Not even 2? Not even a "no"? "Just as i was about to speak" how long do you take to get a sentence out? How infuriating, lectures go by faster than a single sentence she can speak, it seems to me.

Stories where one sister is favored so blatantly over the other are sad 😢
I’m glad the FL found a better match in ML2.
I’ve listened to so many of these stories that I would hope that ML2 will be the exception as an emperor and remain devoted to the FL alone!

Kinda feel bad about Shen, it just that he taken granted the FL. He became too comfortable about his relationship to the FL, too comfortable it made the FL fell out of love.

I am missing the sister part of the story and how was she dealing with her marriage . Also one of the things I do not like in the stories  is when the FL are mute, not saying she needed to argue or something, but every time, she has nothing to say ever.

You should just live with his wife contentedly in spite of how’s it inspired to the streets his ex fiancé why make everybody suffer makes no sense
