hey everyone! i wanted to address my coverage of the frank/karen situation, because i keep hearing your guys’ concerns about it. firstly, i think it’s important to understand that i genuinely didn’t think about the implications or impact of what i was saying about karen “reverse r wording” herself. or how that statement even sounds🫣. i apologize for the terrible wording and for arguing with many of you in this comment section. i think my comments about the situation come from my distain for the storyline and my misunderstanding of the situation. as someone who has been groomed and abused in the past, i had a distorted view of the narrative and probably should’ve thought a little deeper about the situation. the storyline is still ridiculous and i still hate the writers for throwing it in haphazardly. by the end of karen’s arc this season, its like it was all for nothing—like it was just a shock value moment and it still pisses me off.

anyway, i agree that i should have had the insight to not claim that karen was a victim in this situation, and i apologize for that.

so much of my experience with shameless is so wrapped up in ian and mickey,  i forget how good everyone else is. like, the scenes of fiona suddenly bursting into tears and then stopping because she has to get herself together for her family never fail to get me, like damn

I pointed this out years ago on tumblr; but the first two times Sheila leaves the house was in protection of kids, one of which wasn’t even hers! Sheila Jackson mother that you are.

The "YOU WERE MY MOTHER TOO!" scene was iconic. Emmy's Rossum's acting is peak, pitch perfect. She deserved every award and all her flowers. The difference between her and Christine in Phantom are worlds apart. That woman has RANGE!

"Twink guy recaps iconic shows video trope" is my go to right now. Loving it.

Edit: (I'm gay, please don't be offended 😭 It's my love language)

I love when Shiela says “no apologize to them”. It’s so sad that a woman who has nothing to do with this family can immediately feel sympathy for them, and their own mother doesn’t even care.

literally NO ONE talks about shameless in long form thank you.

Finally finished the vid

1. I forgot how bad the brazilian accent was
2. Lip/Ian and lip/fione best dynamics on the show
3. It's been years and I will never get over lip's series arc, best representation of 'the cycle of poverty' to ever exist

what jessica lang did for AHS is what joan cusack did for shameless SO TRUE

One of my favourite aspects of this show is just how well they combine a mixture of moments that are absurd and moments that are just so real they physically hurt. Along with the fact that there are moments that you really don’t like a lot of the characters you usually love. Like there are a lot of moments when you find yourself really liking Frank because he has quite a few ‘comedic’ moments (for lack of a better word), but there are moments where the reality of just how terrible of a man and a father he is hits you like a brick to the head.

The debbie pregnancy storyline made me extremely uncomfortable.

I LOVE that Sheila not only kicked him out, but she walked alll the way off their property, all for her daughter. She’s so amazing.

Also my absolute favorite scene is when Sheila gets to 100 steps. I’ve never been more proud of a fictional character 😭😂

Thank you, i hate it that no one said anything about kash like he was so creepy and so old!! Ian was a literal child

The way jimmy was never a good boyfriend to Fiona AND people swear they are goals is gross. he was cheating on her, lied about tons of shit, love bombed her when they met and is shown to only do something for them when he’s trying to look good , he never would have told Fiona he was lying about his name and family and only does so because he’s caught after bribing Debbie and lying more, he only gets back with her because estafania bf was gonna murder him and he had no where else to go.
As soon as he has to live the life he’s been telling Fiona he wants with her for 3 seasons he throws a fit about what actually living as a poor person is like and blames it on Fiona to leave to “become a doctor” for the family which was just more gaslighting and lies.
Fiona likes him so much because he’s just like frank. Emotionally unavailable, liar, manipulative, narcissistic, impulsive, etc, it’s also why almost everyone she gets with in the show is just like frank in one way or another (granted her cup job boss wasn’t) but that’s exactly why she ends up cheating on him with his brother that is just like frank.

I like how I'm 30 minutes in and there's been not one mention of baby Liam lmao

33:02 the amount of times this show would randomly introduce a character like 'Veronica's unstable older brother' who would appear for maybe 1 episode or 1 season and then we never hear about them again can only be compared to a daytime soap opera imo

I loved the downfall of Debbie she went from a favorite to a Frank real quick

i think the criticism of fiona dismissing help from steve. it’s hard to imagine if you didn’t grow up in legit poverty surrounded by ppl in situations just as bad — if not worse. in that environment, every single interaction is transactional, so when somebody helps you, they expect it paid back, usually with interest. and 90% of the time this isn’t a dollar amount they expect back, but favors. in fiona’s case she probably has a lot of PTSD from being the parent to 4 kids at the age of 9, and innocently trying to get help from grown men, and getting taken advantage of or expected to do ~*•favors•*~ for these men in return for them helping her.
