Welcome to ’60 Minutes or less’ - a podcast from ‪@birthdaycakeforbreakfast‬, where for episode 72, it’s off to the natural world we go, featuring an interview with Ben Jones of ‪@constantsmilesmusic‬!

Ben Jones formed Constant Smiles in 2009 whilst he was living in Martha’s Vineyard - an island off the southern coast of Cape Cod - both of which sound like made up American place names from Nora Ephron films.

Based out of New York, in their time together, Constant Smiles has had varying lineups and put out many records, including a number of releases on ‪@sacredbonesrecords‬. In November 2025, Constant Smiles released latest album ‘Moonflowers’, their debut for ‪@felte‬.

I caught up with Ben over Zoom in April 2026 from his place in New York. It came not long after a UK tour, with the lineup including players from friends of the podcast, Modern Nature. We spoke about the tour and the new record, as well as gardening, ghost stories and working on new material.
