Minecraft many people play the video game Minecraft for many different reasons combat redstone, servers, survival, creative mode, many even build other games within Minecraft just as Mario Zelda FNAF Fortnite, but are Minecraft's updates (gamedrop system) getting worse? Such as the new Mounts of Mayhem, Copper Age, Spring to Life, Chase the Skys hold up to the Caves and Cliffs update, the Nether Update, or even a Minecraft End Update (Minecraft 1.22)? In this video essay video about Minecraft I will answer that question

"nobody's stopping you from playing the older minecraft"
the humble Bedrock Edition

A weirdly large number of people seem to think Horse Update onwards is "new".

I feel like a big issue is the fear of upsetting people, including people who want as much as possible, as little change as possible etc

My opinion is that while the latest updates aren’t bad, they need to fix what is currently broken instead of adding new stuff. And unfortunately that runs into the “don’t rock the boat” mindset.
Hard to fix the enchanting system when it’s so ingrained into Minecraft and they don’t want push back

I forgot the trail ruins even existed...

Spring to Life was basically what The Wild Update was meant to be. The birch forest concept art was just an example of how they’ll add more atmosphere to multiple biomes

@waddling_pan8621 9 months ago

probably a big reason why people think update aquatic is the cut off line before new Minecraft is because it was the last update released for PS3 and Xbox 360

5:59 in this updates defense, it was actually mostly a performance update, and then the community got so unreasonably rabid they never did one again,and that’s why we still need sodium

In my opinion, I wouldn’t mind it if Mojang dropped one major update every two years or so that was really refined and added really great and well researched things to the game. I prefer quality over quantity. Of course, I know that’s not realistic economically.

Dude, these are the kinds of videos that make Mojang scared to do anything with Minecraft. Whenever they try to make a big step, someone gets mad.

With the logic of counting everything, "removed herobrine" is a feature added multiple times to the game

Builders be eating good with shelves and little biome flourishes like leaf litter

This is an insanely good video! My views align pretty well with what you said here too, and also wow, this animation and editing is amazing.

Also... 500 views??? Is that all??? A couple hundred thousand is the least I was expecting...

"WHAT'S THE POINT OF AN UPDATE IF IT DOESN'T HELP ME BEAT THE DRAGON!!! Huh? Fun? What's a fun?" -every player after 1.16

@Zerog228 9 months ago (edited)

Hey, I was highly sceptical about quality of the new updates before watching your video and it changed my mind.
Good work!

Hell, even thinking and adding new features that is literally "new features" and not just expansions or duplicates of former content is hard. I'm a solo mod dev and was working on a single mod right now. Even then, it was hard implementing stuff (given I'm still new to the modding scene). Brainstorming of what to add that will be balance and not destroy the game, and must be within the theme is pretty hard.

My main complaint (started in 1.5, I was against 1.9 and stopped playing for a year because of it) is the amount of time between some updates for the comparitively low content.

I’m all for 1.16-1.19, in all they did really well, just took forever to launch. And 1.20-21 has had so many announcements that it feels like its one big unending update that’s unfinished.

I miss the updates that felt complete, when x.4 meant the bugs were almost all squashed.
When they drop a bunch of minute details that most players don’t see/use. I understand the parity with existing stuff, and trying to keep the peace, etc.

The drops have been in Bedrock for a bit, and I’m not a fan because they have all this time to fix game breaking bugs, and I can’t even play the top recommended servers with friends because all of the textures die within 5 mins. If they can’t fix these massive widereaching gamebreaking bugs in drops, I will withhold my support for the new system until it proves itself.

“Minecraft boomer?” Sonny, I remember when the world was in its entirety a 256 x 256 space with a chest containing 99 of every item in it in the middle of the map and several humanoid mobs that were not especially blocky roamed about without animations.

@Kaelani_Revyruun 9 months ago

Personally I define "features" as mechanics, items, blocks, NPCs (yes, minecraft mobs are NPCs lol), regions (like biomes), or visual elements that are designed and added to the game. So like a tweak? That's just changing an existing thing. Bugfix? that's rectifying a mistake in the code. But for example clouds are a feature in minecraft. Why? Because they add a visual element to the game (that being something to look at in the sky)
