I've compiled a reading list of my favourite history books via the Amazon influencer program. If you do choose to purchase any of these incredible sources of information then Amazon will send me a tiny fraction of the earnings (as long as you do it through the link) (this means more and better content in the future) I'll keep adding to and updating the list as time goes on:-

Nah, I went to high school with Kenneth McAlpine. He's a mechanic now, he's doing good, has a wife, and a family. I hear they are buying a house soon.

Let me just say how astonished I am with the quality of each & every one of your episodes & how grateful I feel for the opportunity to listen & learn from every one!!! The high level of scholarship & attention to details I all the topics you cover is mind blowing, I'm a very huge history geek & it's a great pleasure for me to have such fantastic programs to expand my knowledge of several areas in history that I haven't been able to read on myself but am able to listen to these instead!! Thank you for your hard work & keep up the awesome work! I also love Voices from the Past & listen to both channels nightly!!!🤓😍

Great video as always. Just a small point, the place Scone is pronounced skoon!

@janetmackinnon3411 5 years ago

"The royal capital of Scone" pronounced "Scoon".

Love the shot of Kenneth MacAlpine from the Phoebe Anna Traquair mural in the Queen Street Portrait Gallery here in Edinburgh. My surname is Lyall, from Legulf, the Wolf, a Viking sailor and relative of the Earl of Orkney and Caithness. My dad’s people were fisherfolk from north east Scotland. We are related to Clan Sinclair. On my mother’s side I am Jewish. I’ve got plenty to research in my family tree both sides!

Scotland is such a fascinating country - a kingdom formed by/from an amalgamation of several different ethnic/cultural groups, made even more complex by its long relationship with England.
It reminds me of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Amazing documentary as always!

Even more than your previous videos, but this was a truly epic story.

Domnall, contrary to what the spelling would have you believe, was more than likely pronounced as "Donall" by his countrymen.

YES!!!! ANOTHER EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!! I needed this EPIC escape from "modern" and "civilized" life , to get back to a world I'm more a tune with.... as odd as this sounds..... (sorry, my life's been hell lately, so thank you for reminding me of my first love so amazingly and selflessly, HISTORY!!!!!!) That being said thank you again and may my Lord bless you, hopefully we will meet and I will be able to bless you as you have done for me, though I doubt I could ever repay my debit to you and your diligence and hard work.... for history!!!!!!!! Which has provided me, [a voracious history lover (and holder of a bachelor's history degree)] with so much more than I ever thought possible .... THANK YOU AGAIN MY FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!
