I used to shoot Provia almost exclusively.

Now film is so insanely expensive I shoot whatever I can scrape together on a deal.

Bizarre to skip Fuji 400 when it is the cheapest consumer grade film in the U.S., and produces excellent results.

putting ektachrome in C did actually make a me just a smitch upset 🤣

Yo thank you for featuring one of my pro400H shots! Was also featured in the last tierlist years ago. Never thought I would get that pleasure twice!

I met the creator of Velvia in Tokyo last week. Wonderful guy. I posted our selfie from the Fuji museum in Tokyo in my YouTube. Spoiler alert. Fuji 400 and Fuji Superia 400 is the same thing according to him and his team. He had this verified when I was there.  He is a master photographer and recommend any film geeks to go meet him. He’s retired docent at the museum.

Ektachrome in c tier! Try a Tiffen 812 or other warming filter, you might like it!

One thing I never considered, I heard slide film leans cooler, because there was the expectation there would be a warm 2700k halogen lamp behind it on the slide projector.

As a subscriber I appreciate the effort you put into your videos, but whereas I am typically in agreement with you regarding cameras, I couldn’t be less so with regards to your film assessments. I see Portra 160 as that incredibly special film, reserved for special occasions, and Portra 400 and 800 at A and B respectively as great everyday films, albeit with 800 having a more limited usage because of its speed. I also see all three slide films at B tier, not because of their quality but because of their limited usage to anyone but professionals or hardcore hobbiests. My other disagreement with you is regarding your reason to not rank Fujicolor, but did rank Lomography even though it’s also just reboxed Kodak consumer film. Thanks again, and cheers!

Can't wait for the black and white film tierlist :D

That ending was perfect.

Wonderful video - comprehensive, helpful,  educational, to the point - appreciate the lack of unnecessary chit chat. Thank you

the hot air balloon shots at 2:53 are amazing 🔥

Very cool to see my photo in your video, thanks for sharing! Would love to see a B&W tier list!

Lomo 400 is highly slept on i think it should be in A Tier but im not mad at you...keep the vids coming my man thank you

Nice vid man. There are some great photographers out there.  Nice selection of pictures giving a great overview.

that photo at 8:49 is amazing

The Portra 400 is best for half frame cameras. It is flexible for low and good lighting. If you can take 72 frames on a standard 36 frame film, you need flexibility for a longer time in the camera. The Portra 400 is sharp and pour of grain. So it is possible to shoot good resolute and sharp pictures with a half frame camera like the Pentax 17.

You should try Ilford film, they’ve been making films for a very long time, well beyond WW1, they mainly only make black and white but I’ve found ilford ilfocolour 400 plus which I’m going to try, their black and white films are very good indeed.

I'm going to give this video and your other ranking videos on 35mm and medium format cameras my rarest rating...

Helpful. You earned a subscriber.

With 120 format, the Lomo 800 has strange leaking issues. The girl from my lab said the paper the emulsion is put on is thinner than standard kodak paper so we have to double fold the tip of the insertion paper. For that reason i would go for gold 120 straight forward now
