A flea the size of a rat? My bowels would evacuate themselves on sight.

This would make a GREAT horror series

Ancient dinosaur blood in a bug trapped in Ambar?? Sounds familiar somehow…

Parasites can't really live without the host they've adapted to for ages so they would probably come into existence and then immediately drop dead again for the most part.

this is what it feels like coming back to a game after years and finding out the old strats and techs work a little too well because the playerbase completely forgot how to counter the old meta, but the "having no idea what the new shit does" kicks in and actually has the opponents put up a decent fight

Dracula's terrible tick: lands on human , sniffs ,"brutha err, what's that?"

This perfectly explains why modern parasites are so much worse. Evolution realized that being a giant bug just makes you an easy target. Shrinking down to become a nearly invisible malaria vector was the true terrifying upgrade.

Fact about ticks: Lyme disease is to ticks like malaria to mosquitoes: they don't bear the disease in innate ways. When a mosquito borns, it borns with no infection; a mosquito gets the infection because it bit something already carrying the disease THEN it transmits the disease by biting another living being. It works the same with ticks. Not all ticks carries lyme disease and so yes you can totally be bitten by a tick and have fortune to not fall sick from it. (but still, if you've got a tick, pull it out therever you can, because there's no way to distinguish an infected tick of a non infected tick before it's too late)

So unless you prehistoric tick took a meal on a dinosaur or another beast of the past before entering in the time machine, this tick won't be more dangerous to us than our modern ticks.

15:28 "It's basically like losing a penny from your bank account everyday" Okay, don't do that. Please don't do that... :face-turquoise-covering-eyes: STOP!!!:face-orange-biting-nails:

For the record, the human immune system is 100% capable of handling a prehistoric virus or bacteria. Someone, somewhere would already be immune or resistant because of the way our immune systems work.

Prehistoric parasitic organisms would likely almost immediately be doomed to die if suddenly introduced into the modern world. The modern microbiome is a constant living battlefield. The microbiome is locked in a continuous arms race with competitive pathogens. Over the last 66 million years, bacteria, fungi, and viruses have continuously adapted, mutated, and developed entirely new mechanisms to fight/defend themselves against other microbes and also as well as inheriting efficient ways to breach multi-cellular hosts for infection. Because a prehistoric parasite such as a flea or tick has not lived to this day to adapt its immune system in the modern microbiome, its innate immune system would lack the genetic code and historical recognition required to combat modern strains of everyday bacteria, making even common environmental microbes highly lethal. Prehistoric organisms are very interesting, but there's a reason they were optimal for their environment in the past, not today.

Giant dog sized tick approaches you:
"Oh no, anyways wheres my bugspray"

Ancient bug: "what is this 'Raid' you speak of?"

Might as well put that Dune Sandworm in the thumbnail into the Sahara. ‼️‼️

4:26 you assume here that the tick is filled with dinosaur bacteria which is a bold assumption to make considering you merely assumed if they existed today not if they got time traveled into our timeline

11:42 our rizz is too much for them to handle

10:31 Pharma would love this trick <3

Monkey: prehistoric bugs lands on it ,"ohh looks like dinner", munch

4:20 bloodborne great game

I did sometimes wonder if InGen could've found prehistoric pathogens in the dinosaur blood they extracted, and used it to develop a cure which they'd then sell at huge prices after releasing that disease into the world which our bodies would be completely unable to deal with.
