I cannot for the life of me make myself complete this game. The game is like a vast ocean that has the depth of a puddle. Its defenders always say it's about "the exploration" when there's hardly anything in the game worth discovering; a breakable item, a shrine, a korok seed, take your pick.

I hated this game. It seemed designed to waste time and nothing else.
5 enemies in the whole 120 hour game.
Shrines got old after the 3rd one. Only 117 more to go.

"Wide as an ocean - deep as a puddle". That fits perfectly for BOTW.

What I hate the most about the game is that the Master Sword now has to recharge its batteries after every few swings

They should have called it "Zelda: Shrines & Korok seeds".

"Zelda: Breath of the Wild", is a tad misleading.

Man I said this the first time I played this was the most boring open world game and the people who were fans wouldn't hear anything I was saying

My biggest issue with it is IT'S NOT ZELDA
It's a game that panders to non Zelda fans to attract them to the series.

The two most offensive things to me were the dungeons and the durability. I started avoiding combat altogether, and the dungeons were just so empty and devoid of character.

I might be biased, hoped for years we would get a massive Zelda game where you could stumble into optional dungeons, but the shrines were incredibly tedious and had no sense of intrigue or mystery. None of them had that for me in BOTW. The weapons breaking were an insane grind, and it made chest rewards feel literally useless.

The core gameplay loops exhausted me, and it was only amplified in TOTK.

I agree. Bs game with bs shrines and bs characters and bs mechanics and no real dungeons

I just replayed it again for the first time since 2019, i remember not being super impressed back then, and my current playthrough just confirmed my past feelings, this should not have been a zelda game, they should have just made a new Nintendo protagonist and just called it breath of the wild and made it its own  IP.

"If this wasn't a zelda title it would have been held accountable"  Oh I've been saying that for years.  Nintendo in general gets too many free passes.  I'm hoping they've burned through all the goodwill and people will be objective with their game reviews now.

As a graphical update, i loved it. I spent a lot of time playing it. I had fun. My feeling looking back on it is, "was that it?"

This Zelda is the worst zelda I’ve played nothing but shrines a lack of enemies a massive world with nothing but shrines and seeds. Felt nothing like a true Zelda game

yup... after 9 years, finally got a switch and got to play the game... and yeah, really enjoyed it but this critique is spot on, loved it but by no stretch of the imagination is this a perfect 10/10 game.. take your like and comment,  my good sir, you've earned
