i think this guy would like the first three resident evil games

I don't mean this as an insult but "DINO CRISIS" is a highly amusing name to me. Perfectly 90's.

Actually, there is one thing I really wish you talked about in the review, namely how one of Dino Crisis' three possible endings rewards curiosity and exploration.

The main two endings are straightforward, determined purely by the final choice between Rick's communitarian left and Gail's authoritarian right: abandon the mission to save Gail's life or capture Dr. Kirk at the expense of Gail's life. Both endings tell you at length what either choice entails and what you have to do once you've come to a decision... but not the secret third ending, in which you side with Rick yet do not follow him to the port, opting instead to investigate an area you previously couldn't access on the opposite end of the map, which rather shockingly results in the capture of Kirk and Gail's survival at the same time! And I remember discovering this ending in my childhood by sheer accident, purely due to being curious about that one area I couldn't previously explore and deciding to prioritise curiosity over what I was directly told to do.

It was an incredible feeling, like accidentally exiting the Matrix or something. It felt as if I had personally imposed a specific resolution upon the game, as opposed to the game ending the way it's programmed to end. Genuinely, no other game has ever made me experience something like that, to this very day.

10:58 the distortion on "I don't care" 😂😂😂

Playing dino crisis on the PS1 while being 6-7 years old hits different. I remember I couldn't sleep for a few weeks I saw dinosaur nightmares. But it was awesome. I quickly overcame the fear. Then I continued playing. It was so amazing.

6:44 "There's a good total chunk of this game where there's no Dinos action happening"

Meanwhile Dino Crisis 2 in the corner:

"Oh boy don't worry, i will show you Dinos that you people wouldn't believe"

Mayo, let's keep the fixed camera train going and try Onimusha next.

Regina was such a great character

Mikami that guy sure loves his infinite rocket launchers! 😂

That door you got stuck on in the game was missing the yellow paint and the "Hey, press here!" icon. hahaha nah just kidding, good video =).

Beat this for first time only a few months ago. LOVED it. Love how hands off it is. I got stuck a bunch but always figured my way forward eventually. One puzzle near the v end had me stuck for 3 hours. I dont think capcom would have the balls to release a game with puzzles like this today. Great game

It's been said before, Fixed-Cam is an art form. It's not just putting the camera on a ninja sneak angle on the ceiling, it depends on where you put the camera and consider principles of photography that makes it work. RE for instance obeys these principles very well, it tilts various angles when needed and even puts the camera outside window making it feel as if you're the creepy guy watching the player character. The fact that a friend of mine, an RE noob was so fascinated at how it looks like a movie, is proof of how this direction works a lot.

Now, I don't hate this game, heck I love it. I'm a big dinosaur fan and Jurassic Park is one of my favorite films. You know what else that film does? Absolute cinematography and perfect shots framing the dinos very well. I sure can't forget the one with a charging Velociraptor only to reveal what it saw was a reflection, creating a moment of absolute suspense. So, I'm puzzled with the inferior camera work here, in a game clearly inspired by one of everyone's favorite movie that is based on the idea of extinct animals in the modern world.

This game was my gateway drug to Resident Evil. It definitely doesn't get the love it deserves.

REminder folks the OG RE Trilogy is now on steam

Once again dropping Shadowman Remastered here. It's not a survival horror game, but it leaks atmosphere, has lots and lots of exploration, great level design after the first one, the voice acting is great and the story pretty good for the time. 👍

In the 90s my all time favorite movie was Jurassic Park, it also was the first movie i watched on theater.
Finished RE2 and than someone told me Dino Crisis was Resident Evil with dinosaurs. Went to the store and got the only version available, a Japanese one.
I got hooked, finished it as a young brazilian boy, playing a japanese game without understanding a word in japanese (and not much in English too).
Well, i wrote down places where key itens were, as long passwords.
And that was how I used to play Dino Crisis back in the day. Eventually got an english version, and learned english afterwards.

Parasite Eve 1 and 2 next? 🤞🤞 Really curious what you think of the camera and  Inventory management of the second game, along with its design when it comes to replayability.
