Great video. I've been using mothers mag wheel polish on my stainless guns for years. Gets that fouling off easier than anything else I've found. Makes them look better than new. I actually polish a new revolver as soon as I get it home, just to make it shine. Works great on cragar ss wheels too.
Hey guys, lacquer thinner and a tooth brush and if you have it low pressure air gun blows that debris clean off. Works great, brass brush in a drill for the chambers blow that stuff out before it dries.
Excellent video. I discovered Mothers Mag Polish about a year ago. I had purchased a well used Smith and Wesson Model 64 and a very early Model 65. I had tried scrubbing the cylinder faces with Hoppes #9 and some other CLP products. There were still dark rings around the charge holes and the forcing cone and top straps. Then Mothers came along with Birchwood Casey lead removing clothes. As Gomer would have said, “Shazam!” Clean and shiny revolvers! I have to admit, I like to use both on my stainless firearms. It’s labor intensive but I like to do it. As mentioned, do NOT use the lead removing cloth on blued firearms. It will remove the bluing! I don’t mind running a little Mothers down the charge holes on the cylinder and a little down the barrel. A shiny bore! One thing about using your fingers to clean the carbon and lead off of a firearm, make sure and wash your hands with warm water and lots of soap after cleaning your firearm. There are hand wipes available for cleaning skin to remove lead after cleaning a firearm. One word of warning, do not use the good white hand towels after using Mothers or other polishes. It will really stain them! Thank you Smith & Wesson for bringing the Model 60 J frame out in 1965. It opened a whole new use for polish, other than pots and pans. Shoot on!
I use birchwood casey polishing cloth. I wrap a popsicle stick with a piece to clean around the forcing cone. Im gonna get that polish too, i like my 686 shiny! Yeah nothing sexier than a shiny revolver
And for dull glazed headlights I use the same product. Just a FYI for folks with older cars who can't see the road at night anymore due to oxidized lenses.👍😏
Perfect timing! I have a S&W model 60 (.38 spl) that I inherited. It was packed away dirty and I’ve been wanting to clean it up for my wife. It’s like you read my mind! 👍🏻
Every time I buy a brand new revolver the first thing I do is shoot it to put the fowling marks on it I don't like revolvers without powder fowling on the cylinder it makes me think of a rarely used collector piece
Remove the cylinder, polish the entire face flat on the table with Mother’s smeared on a microfiber cloth, then finish in hot tap water and Dawn. Blow dry with the old Conair 1800 watt hair dryer. Easy and quick and leaves no abrasive residue behind.
