I Turned a Plastic Organizer into a Mini Laptop!
What happens when you turn a simple plastic organizer into a DIY Mini Laptop? In this project, I built a fully functional DIY Mini Laptop using a tiny Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, a small display, a custom battery system, USB ports, and a compact keyboard.
Building this DIY Mini Laptop was much harder than I expected. The biggest challenge was fitting everything into a case that's only about 2.5 cm thick. I had to modify the plastic organizer, carefully arrange every component, make custom connections, and even redesign the internal layout several times.
For this DIY Mini Laptop, I used a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W because it's small enough to fit inside while still being capable of running a full desktop operating system. I also built a compact power system using lithium batteries and a boost converter, added a custom hinge, and made a recessed keyboard panel to give it a more laptop-like appearance.
The HDMI connection was another major challenge. After struggling to solder an ultra-small custom cable, I eventually found a much better solution that saved the entire DIY Mini Laptop project.
After putting everything together, the DIY Mini Laptop actually booted successfully! I even tested it with Minecraft to see what this tiny computer could do.
The final DIY Mini Laptop isn't exactly a gaming powerhouse, but considering how small it is, I'm pretty impressed that it works at all.
If you enjoy DIY electronics, Raspberry Pi projects, mini computers, and unusual builds, this DIY Mini Laptop project is definitely worth watching!
