We are massive fans of The Warning, but their track "Ego" completely caught us off guard and left us scratching our heads!
In today's reaction, Sharlene and I dive into a side of the Villarreal sisters we've never seen before. Shifting away from their usual crushing, high-energy rock riffs into a heavy glam-rock space, "Ego" left us initially confused, but the more we listened, the more we realized how brilliant it actually is. It's odd, it's different, but it is incredibly good.
As a musician, I have to respect the absolute balls it takes to pivot styles like this. Let's break down the production, the basslines, the vocal attitude, and the sheer UPness of this massive creative risk!

Dany says, "this video is about claiming back your power and feeling confident in who you are, and standing tall in your identity."
Ale's primal bass chugging reminds me of the huge crowd dance in underground Zion in one of the "Matrix" movies... i can't remember which one it was... maybe the last one with the ship battles? they were fighting for those people hiding outside of the matrix... i might have to watch that whole series again 😉😹
some of us believe the "Katana drop" at the beginning is a salute to anime... specifically where the protagonist drops their sword/weapon because it is not needed any more... basically saying that the antagonist has already lost the battle/war...
i see this track as being similar to Narcissista , Six Feet Deep , and Kerosene and thanking them for their views and interaction since the band gets paid for those views and interactions... somehow the haters don't seem to realize how the interactions really work... it is quite funny, really, and the more they hate and spew the more they actually contribute to the band's income 😹

Couldn't wait till you guys reacted to this!
They are young women experimenting.
They are young women saying they don't care if you like it or not.
Did you not experiment at their age?
Badass.
Listen again.
Badass.
Enjoy

"We do whatever we want!" That's what this song is about.
