I'm so happy to see a second person react to this one. VR Troopers is such a dumb fun show to coincide with Power Rangers. Fun fact about it too: Brad Hawkins, who plays Adam Steele the main character, was actually the voice of the Gold Zeo Ranger and was originally gonna move that character over from VR Troopers to Power Rangers to make a sort of TV-universe all the way back in the 90s. Alas, they ended up making it a different character just voiced by Brad, and didn't bring the VR Troopers into Power Rangers' continuity until the comics just last year.

5:04 Welp... That's two more AVGN videos could watch, The Virtual Boy and The Power Rangers Games 😂

So, both power rangers and VR troopers are actually Japanese shows, the action footage with monsters and costumes is the original show. Saban just bought the rights and added western actors for the plot scenes telling a different story. Also fun fact, in the 90s power rangers was SO POPULAR that Japan started to transmit the USA show, redub in Japanese: a usa show, that's uses fragments of the original Japanese show to tell a different story with American actors, now with Japaneses voices (which most of the them btw were the ACTORS from the original Japanese show).... what a mess lol

I miss when the internet, "cyberspace" was imagined as a strange alternate dimension we could physically travel through. Now look at what we got...

VR Troopers was produced by Haim Saban, the same guy behind Power Rangers.  It aired on FOX Kids around the height of Power Rangers' popularity along with other shows like Big Bad Beetle Borgs (the other show Jon referenced).  They were all shows that used Japanese superhero show footage (known as Henshin Hero Tokusatsu shows) for the monster fights while shooting and splicing in American-produced footage for the overarching plots.  VR Troopers and Power Rangers were some of the only good ones...and yes, there were a LOT of knockoffs, including, and must emphasize that I'm not kidding... Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills.  Yeah.  That was a real thing that existed.

Oh, Uganda Knuckles era. You are a queen

This my childhood along with Beetleborgs

"I'm so confused!"

Welcome to the 90s, where computers where a new fangled doodad.

You should look up those cringy 90s "How to surf the net" vids.

"This is the WORST power rangers ripoff ever!?"
It's made by Saban, who also made Power Rangers (and Power Rangers is an American adaptation of the Super Sentai Series). VR Troopers is...kind of an adaptation of 3 Metal Heroes shows: Metalder, Spielban, and Shaider.
I have never seen any of Saban's side shows that weren't Power Rangers (I marathoned all Power Rangers seasons in the last decade) besides a few episodes of Masked Rider (an adaptation of Kamen Rider Black RX), which wasn't a good show.

Anyway, in all of these shows, they use American footage with Japanese stock footage from their original Japanese counterparts.

17:49 what the dog doin?

Oh boy VR Troopers. I will say it's a lot more interesting than Jon mentions, like it's kind of impressive that they made a show using footage from 3 different, unrelated Metal Heroes shows (Metalder, Spielban, and Space Sheriff Shaider) and it's somehow not the worst of the Saban-Toei adaptations, that's Masked Rider which I highly recommend watching the Huggbees video about.

It was also originally going to be called Cybertron and was going to star Jason David Frank (Tommy from Power Rangers) while he would be replaced on Power Rangers with Brad Hawkins as the new White Ranger, but the fan backlash from writing off Power Rangers most popular character (and the potential lawsuit with the Transformers brand) made them re-do Cybertron as VR Troopers with Brad Hawkins as the lead instead so JDF could return as the White Ranger ('m a Power Rangers freak. Sorry. I'll be quiet now.)

I don't remember this show but I must have seen it because hearing the theme song activated some dormant memory

His dad has been chasing anime girls in VRchat all this time and his son found him, that's embarrassing.

27:15 The nostalgia.. 🎶 "What's the story, Wishbone??" 🎶

VR Troopers. Now that's a blast from the past. 😂

2:30 doobus goobus winnie the pooh is now a neccesary watch

No. That would be "Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters From Beverly Hills." Yes. That is real.

AAAAAAAAND I used to watch this show on U27, on a good day. I am VERY old. It's depressing.

The sad thing about the American tokusatsu is that the actors are sometimes (mostly) got scammed by the company that makes the show. I'm not saying the Japan don't have controversy but to give a perspective many of the Japanese toku actor ended up loving the show they are in so much that some of them really want to get called again as a toku actor or as a cameo in other toku show while the some of the american toku actor didn't like the show or don't want to go back to the series because of the toxic workplace.
