Thanks. I thought I will just replace my bulb this morning and realized it was not a trivial disassembly. Decided to stop and go to the expert. Thanks for vid. I will also disconnect my battery though.

I love that Beetle.
Slightly easier job this side of the world as the bulbs are not sealed beam so you can swap them out without removing the headlamp completely from the shell.
Keep 'em coming Rich.

Thank you for the video! I have a Porsche 356 that uses the same headlight assembly, found your video which clarified how to replace the sealed beam light. Well done! BTW love your bug!

That's one pretty Beetle. Why haven't they made updated housings with tabs and screws? Fiddling with bits of wire seems inefficient. Vintage yes but still inefficient vs screws. Excellent video for anyone that owns a Beetle.

Nice video, but wouldn't a 1956 Beetle have bulb headlights, not sealed beam? I thought that VW shifted to sealed beam in 1967 (for American-made Beetles) but European ones were still bulbs. Just wondering.

Hey great video, do you know where I could source A headlamp retaining spring for my beetle? I’m one short and can’t find one
