as a storyteller this was so fun to listen to! major applause for writing 7 full books under 3 years omg

I love how you made berrynose likable instead of the obnoxious brat he is in cannon

Biggest issue with Warriors, Erin's make a billion characters and only focus on like a handful of them(mostly firestar's relatives). Soo glad to see you actually fixed this in your rewrite. A lot of us fans mess around in our heads about "well what if this happened, or this, that and the other" but you actually went far beyond that, and that's soo impressive, congratulations.

"m-maybe dovepaw is a bit demi, as a treat? 🥺👉👈"

LOVE IT

I'd also like to mention a couple series-wide changes you made that I hope aren't too spoilery! First is the choice to actually have cats address their parents as "Mom" or "Dad", which rarely if ever happens in canon but further emphasizes your goal of making personal relationships shine. Second is the fact that spirits don't ever "fade" if they're killed, just respawn in the Dark Forest or Starclan, which is a change in the lore.

Can the Erins just hire Sunnyfall please

Thank you for keeping Jay as a medicine cat. He is S U C H a great medicine cat

You've done a MASSIVE project and more importantly; You've had the willpower to let the story tell itself rather than overshare. That is not easy and I applaud you for pulling it off.

"Just a little bit demisexual? As a treat?" Honestly that is a mood <-(won't stop making nonbinary characters)

I havn't read the story yet, but on the point of jay actually wanting to be a medicine cat, I have a point that's never bought up. Aside from the fact that he's good at medicine, I think another motivation could be that his powers make him hate fighting. Think about it, he can sense what other cats are feeling. So if he attacks an enemy and hurts them, he feels his opponents pain and fear. That can't be pleasant for him.

I can easily imagine a scene of him successfully getting the upper paw in a fight, feeling triumphant for a brief moment as he rakes his claws down. Only to be crushed by a wave of the very pain he's inflicting, to reel back in shock as he feels the other cats desperation to escape and run.

I’m just happy Hazeltail and Icecloud are together

Oh my god, YOU ACTUALLY FIXED WARRIOR CATS

This rewrite is absolutely amazing! I love how much more attention sunny gives the characters. But if there’s ONE thing that should really be added to the main series is the boost-trap paradox take. The whole power thing is left unexplained in the series, it’s like the authors didn’t even know what to do with it. This paradox gives so much more meaning to interactions with the ancients and adds such a major twist! It’s just so top notch and elegant compared to the actual series. I was blown away with this take of the threes powers. plus, nothing would have to changed in the main series  a drastic amount other than a couple dark forest interactions, what Jayfeather directly tells halfmoon, and how much power the dark forest has over starclan. Having the prophecy be rendered useless was just so dramatic! Lionblaze is the whole reason the dark forest rose to so much power. Jayfeather sacrificed his whole life for the prophecy that meant nothing and he was the one who accidentally created it in the first place. He literally ruined his own life.

It’s just so great- good job sunny fall!

The way I see that, Paws of Stars wouldn't be canon compliance, it would technically be canon divergence, since you're taking key points from the original source material and making a separate timeline with it, thus altering it. If you did make Paws of Stars canon compliant, you'd change little to nothing about it, but since you yourself said you'd change some things and even made your own alternate timeline with it, you made your "rewrite" canon divergent. Hope that helped a little

I love how in rising tides...

(SPOILERS FOR THAT BOOK BELLOW)

Tigerstar makes some really good points that if you look at his ideas in a vacuum, theoretically, he's kinda right, Wich makes you go like "ugh I know he's evil and all but like, some of his ideas and arguments are kinda right?" Like with the cats having to fight all the time and the borders only keeping them separated, but them you start to notice that his only reason for wanting that is power, and then you realize that he's not right, but also not totally wrong

Damn it must be weird reading the canon books and seeing characters do stuff that your versions of them would never do

Just finished the final book about... one or two hours ago, on a plane. I kid you not, I cried through most of the flight reading this, and it takes quite a bit for me to cry over a book. (Also writing this comment from the airport because I cannot stop thinking about these stories now.) I also finished the whole series in about three weeks, it was that good - and every new entry better than the one before. Book one was nice, but book seven was a treasure.

(Next section might have mild spoilers for the general vibe of the books but I'll keep it vague)

So in just seven books, Sunny fixed, to as far a degree as possible within the constraints of the Warriors universe,
- the personalities, or rather lack thereof, of a bunch of background characters
- LGBTQ+ representation
- ableism and disability representation
- sexism and gender imbalance
- family relations, the role of blood kinship, parentage and siblings
- the Tribe and their role in the story
- the Ancients
- the lack of female villains
- powers
- Brambleclaw
- Hollyleaf
- the Dark Forest
- StarClan
- the warrior code
- the medicine cat code
- Power of Three, Omen of the Stars, and oddly enough, A Light in the Mist if not most of The Broken Code and almost even parts of A Starless Clan (in my opinion)
- and probably more things that I forgot because I'm sleep deprived from reading and wouldn't have it any other way

The series is superbly written (sure, there are some minor errors, inconsistencies and odd elements... but we'd expect the same from the Erins, if Heavystep is any indication), and the ending feels like the perfect springboard for something of a soft warriors reboot: the same universe, but changed.

And yet for some reason there's one tiny, offhand comment that I almost loved above it all: Dustpelt's remark that Sandstorm was born a rogue. No relevance to the story, no big reveal, just a puzzle piece of worldbuilding that just FIT and was wonderful. Thank you.

I'm gonna have to read this, it sounds very cool! The Warriors fandom has some of the most talented creatives I've ever seen in a fandom, both and writing and art! Seriously, this takes dedication and is wicked cool!

As someone who’s trying to outline my own rewrites, stuff like this provides amazing inspiration and helps me get into the au mindset

I really love your rewrite! The best way I think I can sum up the way that I feel about Paws of Stars is that I remember who these characters are, I remember their motivations and interests and the their relationships with the other cats. I love little slice of life stories, so this just ticks off all the right boxes for me.
