Rainer, thank you. Clear and direct to the point and you do know how to properly explain things. I am new to the active hobby in retirement, but I've been an armchair model railroader most of my adult life,. I knew maybe 50% of what you present here, about LEDs, but it took me hours of reading and video watching--and some hair pulling to weed out inconsistencies--to even get there. I wish I had found your channel sooner! FYI, I found you through a search on the Walther's 90' turntable assembly and watched that great video first. Somewhat like you I've done complicated things in my career and then taught those complicated things, and those Walther's instruction left me shaking my head. I'll use your video when I start that project. But for now, I'm hard at work laying a 12v. DC accessory bus and the DCC power bus wiring, track comes next. You've got a new subscriber here, thanks again! Mike in Arizona

At the end of your video you said "Hopefully this is helpful". What an understatement! I've watched dozens of videos trying to get the nerve to wire up my N scale layout. Watched this one last night, watched it again. Your presentation was perfect. Woke up this morning, grabbed a cup of coffee and had my first few 3mm LEDs and 510 ohm resistors soldered together in minutes. Plugged it in and just sat there grinning. Thank you.

You have saved me a lot of money in lighting my layout.  Thank You.

This is the secret knowledge I was looking for

Thank you.   This is the exact video I needed.  Just getting into N scale -setting up my first scenery

Thank you so much for explaining the subject in such an easy to understand manner. I  can now install my  LEDS without any problems.

I just started to go back to some of your older videos showing the start of this layout.  I'm kind of blown away by how much you've done in what seems like just 9 months or so.

Great explanation Rainer.
It is easy to be unsure of adding lights at the beginning, but once you overcome your uncertainty the  results are amazing.
Happy modelling.

Just watuched the walthers 90 ft turntable. I am 38 got back into model railroading in 2018 and am final building a layout. My hobby started with my former neighbor needed some help cleaning their basement. So i helped them and they found a tyco Chattanooga set, in a old plastic milk crate. They were going to throw it out so I rold them if they don't want it i will take it. And well it didnt run it immediately started shooting sparks and fried the motor. But since then i ahbe been collecting old model trains stuff. And i finally decided to actually build a layout to run all the models i collect. So videos like this helps.

Back in the old analog days when using GOW incandescents, even though they were rated for 12v I ran them on 6v.  The soft glow seemed to scale better.

Thanks so much for this relatively short, very concise, much needed video. I've  seen many videos expounding the virtues of the woodland scenics plug and play sytem. An excellent video, because the woodland scenics stuff is hugely expensive. 20 mv leds on amazon are 8$ for 20, with 370 ohm resistors included. Woodland scenics charges $11 for 2 lights, 20ma, with really, really thin 30 awg wire. $17 for a light hub for 4 lights max, $16 for an expansion hub, an auxiliary switch to turn everything off $12, a 24 v dc power adapter $24. That totals $69 or get them all in one kit for $64, but  only comes with 2 lights. A medium sized o gauge layout might have 8 buildings,  10 other led lights. I have not lighted my layout in 20 years so I've  decided to learn how to do it best with leds, 370 ohm resisters, some plugs, a 300 watt power suplly providing  12 volt dc output, 25 amps, 53$ on amazon, 3000 positive reviews. 25 amps will power over 800 20 mv led lights. I see a much needed lighting how to video in my future. And yes, I'll learn to solder a resistor to the negative wire of an led light. Wish me much luck. Your video has made me say its time to learn modern lighting my o gauge trainboard.  Gary

THANK YOU! This explanation was exactly what I need!

Absolutely great informative video.  I have a trainshed application where wiring four lights together in three rows would work great.  Thanks for the information.

Just what I needed! Thank you!!!!

Very good info. It’s simply done even I with no electrical smarts can understand

Excellent video Rainer, very helpful to anyone looking to add light to their layout.

Thank you. Much appreciated.  New to your channel but I look forward   learning more.

Definitely helpful! Great explanation!

Great video, learned a lot, thank you for sharing!

Thank you for the info. I needed it my wiring looks like a bowel of spaghetti.
